He’s still a top class player.

If Barca do get him, he’d be fantastic with Frenkie.
The only geriatric rumored to getting signed in the summer that I want

He has the qualities we currently lack on the ball apart from Pedri.
And before the Messi fanboys come in, he works his ass off the ball something Messi never does

Still playing at top level in a Guardiola team is a testament

Big game player also. Always performs at the business end of the season.

Peps first signing at City for a reason. Intelligent on and off the ball.

A couple of years ago after his injury he was clicked with us and Barca forum would not have it.

Made sense after the injuries though. It's like talking about Fati now, and then in 2-3 years time he gets it together and looks a stud again.

Yea, which is why we shouldn't be in a rush to get fati out the door, without at least a buyback option

Not all injuries are the same.

Ansu removed or partially removed his meniscus, something that will likely cause problems again for him in the future.

Precisely which is also why there was so much debate about the options that were being considered to manage/treat it - it was, however, clear that from a sporting performance perspective there was considerable risk his career trajectory was going to be altered regardless of the options

What seemed clear early in the saga was that he may never be the same again

Dwyane Wade had a HOF career with a removed meniscus in college, sure he didn't last long in his 30's, but if Ansu reached that it will be good. There is legit chance he can regain his potential and reach good heights, and obviously a bigger chance he has been Umtitied.

Had we been in good financial position, Ansu staying would have been a no brainer for me.

Problem is simply financial, we can't afford him staying then turning into Umtiti.

The whole discussion you are having is misguided.
It would have made sense if Ansu was getting recurrent issues on his surged knee that would prevent him from playing.

Right now, what people think is wrong with him has nothing to do with that

Wade had a lateral meniscus tear which clinically & in terms of recovery different from medial ones like that of Fati. Then there’s a question of length of tear & location in the horn as they differ in vascularisation for recovery from repair. Lateral tears are ‘easier’ to recover from even though Wade had chronic knee issues and always regretted removal of his meniscus

In the future transplants & other treatment modalities are likely to improve outcomes but once Ansu removed his, his career trajectory was already affected - premature osteoarthritis is guaranteed for example. The medial meniscus also serves as the fundamental ’shock absorber’ of the knee which explains a bit on his inability to change direction & dribble out of tight spaces like before the injury.

Whatever happens now, guaranteed his career has been shortened - the only question has been how much of pre-injury form could he recover. 3 years in, looks minimal recovery

Read Pep insists he remains at City and better he would. No matter what I'm so tired of old players wanting a nice vacation at Barcelona at the end of their career.

Good signing but to give him higher wages than on at City at 33 would be a big risk in a squad already with other older players.

At very least dont offer him more money than City etc do. If he wants to be at Barca should not be that influenced by money.

He’s out of contract, if will of player is to come to Barca then that’s all that matters. If it is salary he seeks, he‘ll get it remaining with the Petro club
