Thanks Gundo! He played some alright football, but he also talked some smack about our own players in public etc. We have Olmo + Fermin in his position so we're going to be alright. He would be a luxury player we don't really need if Olmo pans out and a player we couldn't really afford. All the best to him...

Oh, this poor Gundogan whom Laporta offended...

9 million euros in the City

18 million euros in Barcelona
Have pity on Gundogan. He was so offended...

Good thing that Lewa fullfils those demends that Flick football requires. Good on the ball, mobility, agressivness without the ball. Lewa checks all the boxes so it's logical he'll play every second.

If Flick had a good option for the CF position, he would definitely get rid of him.

Flick doesnt have the power to remove Lewa.

There is no way board go down that route when know there is no club he would leave to that would pay his salary or pay a fee for him.

They are stuck pretending he was a signing that made sense and still does.

In hindsight, if Gündogan's leaving shows anything, then that Flick isn't as spineless as some fans assess him to be. Gündogan was a Xavi transfer, he wanted him above anything else and under Xavi he played every game. Now Flick comes around the corner and when rumours about Olmo started to appear, many fans including myself critized Deco and Flick for taking away Fermin's playing time for someone, who is not needed.
But the situation is now that Gündogan is leaving and Deco is working to extend Fermin's contract. Turned out it wasn't about Fermin, but Flick wasn't that enthusiastic to keep Gündogan.
And if you think about it, it only logical. Flick demands a strong physical performance, to press non stop. You can't do that with a 36 year old Lewandowski and a 34 year old Gündogan behind him. Our pressing would have had more holes than a swiss cheese. Gündogan is still a class player, but in combination with Lewandowski it wouldn't have worked out for Flick.
Flick confirmed there was a talk between them and I think in this talk Flick told him he isn't an undisputed starter anymore like he was under Xavi. Especially, because in Flick's system there is only one OM spot and not two. Olmo, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin. All young players more capable to perform better in Flick's pressing as well as their salary is way lower than that of Gündo.
And I think Gündogan is too proud to sit on the bench for some kids as former captain of City, so he asked to leave as a consequence and the club has nothing against it, as it helps with their salary limit.

If it happened like that and it sounds very logical to me now, it's the best for all sides. A professional assessment of the general situation without unnecessary feelings. Xavi wanted to get rid of Lewy, Flick didn't count on Gündogan. Every coach has his preferences and Deco listened to Flick in this matter.
.....thinking Flick had any say in him staying or not is the highest grandeur of delusion.

Okay Lewa is bad...But who will play instead of him?

Don't say Ferret or Fermin.

Except Lewa wouldn't leave. He's on Saudi money in Barca with 1 year left if he doesn't play 55% of the games. I think there is some talks between Barca and Lewa, an addition to his contract - that he will and/or can be played in more than 55% of the games but he'll leave after this season. That's what makes sense and not Flick playing him 54% or whatever. We could never get rid of Lewa this season and we did with Gundo.

Why would Lewa agree to that?

He knows fine well he holds the power here and will play over 55% when fit.

Lewa will play over 55% of games and Barca will try and deal with it in a years time.. when most likely he wont leave.

Well, in this case we have our position which is not bad.

We don't play you, and you don't get the contract.

We can have gentlement agrement, you will play whole season but you will leave in the end.

It is not like Lenglet case where we can just hope so.

He told the truth about an entitled dressing room culture. That post match interview after Madrid confirmed that' most of the squad are pussies who are ok with losing.
Also there must be something about him. Pep doesn't bring back older players so there's a leadership aspect about him and he can still do a job from the bench.
Embarrassing that the board let him go for free.
These Catalans really are clowns, total fucking amateurs.

The same players also beat Real three times without him the season before and won the league.

As if keeping Gundo on 18m this season he is leading Barca to titles..

City have a much better set up for him at this stage.

A cule since very little!

A class gentleman that preferred to walk than being scapegoated by an embarrassing board
Club under Laporta doesn't deserve such class men, only petty greedy ones like Frenkie who sit on their big fat contracts

Goodbye Legend!
