There was this article in Bild regarding his wage demands. According to them he was offered 6,5M€ per year at Dortmund, but demanded "significantly more" while negotiating with Bayern. Supposedly too much for Bayern and they pulled out. Leaving Real, Manchester United und Barca in the race.
