I think he had a great game. He was the only player who was matching Atletico's intensity in the beginning of the match and had some good individual moments at the time we were starting to control the game.

Well, I gues I'm the only one unsattisfied here. I remember him in Sevilla, so creative and with so many assissts, shooting great... I thought he'll be our new Xavi just with more powerfull shot, but...

He misses a lot of passess, looses a lot of balls, often looks like he runs around like headless chicken...

But he fights, I give him that. And helps in defending. Very good player, but we can have somebody more agyle, creative and with better shot there... just my oppinion...

His job here is not to be creative or shoot. There's msn for that. He does what the coach asks of him.

Well, that's exactly what I say to myself as a consolation and comfort, after seeing some of his bad passess and lousy shots. I really hope that that is the case (Lucho sacrifised him on purpose to play role under his real abbilities) and not that he actualy downgraded since Sevilla days...

He's not Xavi, nor he ever will be, but he does, as many have said before, all the running and "dirty" work, which is something this team needs. I'm also all up for more creative players, but what good is it if you don't have a player who won't press as much, who won't defend as much, plus some of his long passes are 90% of the goal. Until we get better option, he's our best card at the position...the card we paid far less than it's actually worth.

Didn't he had more attacking role in Sevilla?

Rakitic's role is pretty simple. He's does the Donkey work as a Box to Box mid while Iniesta and Busi help control games and MSN does the Creativity.

One of the cool things about Rakitic is he brings a lot of balance to the Midfield, I mean sure he's not the most Creative Mid out there but he seems to Click well with all our Mids. We played a Roberto-Busi-Rakitic Mid several times and it works well and even the Arda-Roberto-Rakitic Mid was solid as well.

His role at Sevilla was Different as he was a #10.

His shots aren't lousy either, he's one of the only guys to provide threat from range, and easily our best to do that as a midfielder (though, Arda could overtake). I wish he'd shoot more at times even.

He has 12 goals and 14 assists in his time at Barca. That's a pretty great return, considering that the idea is to get the ball to the front 3 as fast as possible, and that his game is almost entirely dependent on what Messi feels like doing. He scored 2 in the CL in one game this season when Messi was away, but I think he lacked clarity in what his role was without Leo. Like, Iniesta had 1 assist and zero goals last Liga season (playing much better now, but his end product is poor), yet you'd get crucified for criticism that on here, unfair to single Rak out for that.

But again, that's (kinda) besides the point given the emphasis on the front three.

After Fab, the best thing I can say about him is that he's a real man. Knows his role and his attitude is always spot on.

He has a good long ranger, but he seems to take quite some time to set it up, at least that's my impression, he takes a bit to position himself in order to catch the ball right, which is totally ok, but wished it was a bit faster. Not criticizing, just sharing an impression and wishful thinking.

Do you guys see him too? It's kind of a distinct approach with the ball, predictable 1-2 seconds before...again just personal impression, no disrespect to Raki :)

He plays as second DM. Just look at his average positions. He may not be Busquets but he has more assists and goals than Busquets and runs more than Busquets.
I don't know what some people would want. If he had technique of Xavi he would be worth 100 million.

I think there's not a single soul that has anything bad to say about Raki in a Barca shirt, as you said, his work is priceless for us, at both ends, just daydreaming he had's Xavi/Iniesta technique and composure, Alba speed, etc :)
