Hooligans Chase Ivan Rakitić Off Ugljan Island

On Friday afternoon a group of hooligans threw rocks at the villa where Ivan Rakitić and his family resided. After the dramatic event, the famous football player literally ran off the island with his family on a speed boat

Croatian footballer Ivan Rakitić came for his vacation two days ago to Ugljan island. The Barcelona player rented the luxurious Villa Marija for his family, nested in the Čeprljanda bay. Residents of Ugljan welcomed the arrival of one of the best Croatian footballers, but hooligans didn’t feel so welcoming, as Dnevnik.hr reported on July 1, 2016.

On Friday, around 13h, a group of six men arrived on the island and headed for the villa. Upon their arrival they threw rocks at the house and smashed doors and windows. Rakitić and his family were inside at the time. After smashing what they could they ran off in an unknown direction.

The reasonably panicked Rakitić reacted right away and left the island in half an hour via a speed boat. Locals who talked to Dnevnik.hr about this shameful incident say the situation was dramatic as they heard one of the hooligans calling on others to storm the house.

An ugly advert for Croatian tourism, but a nation as a whole. Shameful, but especially an ugly situation for Ivan Rakitić who, of all fashionable world resorts which would welcome him with open arms, chose to spend his holidays in his homeland. Probably the last time after this disgrace.

What a shame. Of all the places in the world he could afford to go to, he takes his Spanish wife and kids back to his homeland and gets treated this way. Absolutely disgusting. I guess that's what you get for loving to come back home and not going to Ibiza like everyone else.

Besides, I never understood why these accommodation owners aren't kept silent, or at least why Rakitić didn't cancel his reservation once the story broke loose where he was staying, like Messi did.

Yeah that owner of villa where Messi was about to have holiday contacted all the media and I think he even brought cameras to show where messi will stay. It was quite incredible to watch the stupidity of the owner and wait for inevitable to happen. Then again maybe it was a good PR move for the owner.

Lol. Idiots.

I am expecting a response from some local fans where they will explain that they attacked him because he played for Mamic's FA and for Mamic's NT team.
Hooligans will probably say again how they are fighting for a good cause again.

Probably the same brainwashed fans who wanted to make attacks on Euro.

Only thing that is beyond stupid is to believe these shitty false newspaper reports. How low can journalists go, unbeliveable. It turns out that only one window was broken by probably one person. It was definitely not an organized attack by hooligans and as per police report no one was in the house at the moment.

And Rakitic didn`t flee the island, he was even giving autographs after the "dramatic incident". Later that day he left the island, because his wife didn`t feel safe there anymore. That`s understandable.

You are playing it down just like police ran by Orepic is and justifying hooligans.

Witnesess saw more people and heard them conspiring to break in.

And he did flee as he rented a speedboat to leave and didn't wait for a ferry.

Do you have a family and small kids? I reckon you don't and can't understand what kind of traumatizing event that is.
Some kids threw snowballs at my window when my kid was only 6 months and I know how pissed I was when threatened the safety of my family even at that small incident.

Agent angling for a bigger contract or actually looking for the exit with Gomes' arrival - strange tweet

Odd tweet indeed. You have to expect intense competition for your position in the team. Otherwise, you might as well pack up and leave to a lesser football club.

I actually believe we should mix it up in midfield a lot now. Like really a lot.

Rakitic did nothing but show examplary behaviour at Barca and sacrificed himself to be MSN waterboy.

If all signings were like him Barca's transfer record would be 10/10.

I can't speak for his agent, first time I hear about him.
