You really have to be a special kind of fan in order to dismiss Rakitic and his worth to the team.

I just think he's simply not good enough to be a regular starter for Barcelone guys . I'd prefer to have Gomes , even Sergi Roberto in his position . Sadly we've crowbarred Sergi R into the RB spot but I'd still start with Gomes over Rakitic every time ...

That's my gripe with this guy , we're used to Xavi and Iniesta in there , Rakitic is a competent player at best and that ain't enough to be a nailed on starter in the Barca middle three . I'd take Gomes everytime over Rakky . Sorry guys .

Have you forgotten about Fabregas? He had a killer season in Chelsea when he left Barcelona... so why get rid of him?
Sometimes other factors than just the bare football skill of the player comes into play.

Rakitic was the captain and main distributor of Sevilla (i think he was top 3 in La liga in chances created category while he was there), but in Barca he is doing what Fabregs did not want to do , which is to be a RCM and RB all in one so Messi could walk around the pitch while Barca doesnt have possesion.

Are you sure Gomes is willing to do that season after season before becoming frustrated? I don´t know. Wanna gamble?

Raki who has been playing out of his natural position for 3 years now is doing that just fine. While watching the Atletico game i couldnt make out if he was playing RCM, RB or LCM he was all over the place

That being said we will se what happens with his contract renewal, i belive if Barca does not increase his salary enough to make him feel like a "starter" he will leave next summer.

He did not have the best game but zero impacit is going a bit to far, he did provide 3 passes (go rewatch the game) that could have easily have been goals had Suarez and Neymar had finished them.
