When we buy Pogba in January they can trigger his release clause and see if he has changed his mind.
I can't see him leaving right now.

Pogba would be a better option going forward, but defensively, he is volatile. I don't see why people want him aside from star power. I'll admit it's a sexy option, but we'd be unbalanced in midfield. Keep the Raki for one more season.

I actually think all the media-fuss about him is a downside. His agent as well - Barca is enough drama in itself, we don't need dramaqueen-players as well.
He is has a very good physic and pace as well. Until now he has been too much of a joker, but the right coach could make him great.
Rakitic should definitely stay, his world-cup campaign should be enough for anyone to see that he still got it. A lot of our midfielders are wildcards right now (Arthur, Alena, Vidal, Rafinha, Coutinho as 8 etc.), so we need the consistency and volatility from him.

According to Fernando Polo (MD) Rakitic wants to stay but he also thinks he deserves a wage increase but the Club on the other hand right now isn't interested in giving him a new contract.

Going by the article it seems he's is trying to use PSG's offer which he's being offered a lot more money and hopes he gets bigger wages.

He got a new contract last year.

Are we really going to hand out freebies to everyone now?

He thinks he's more than he is. He's a niche role player inflated by the 4-4-2 we were forced to play, not even close to being one of the star players that deserve a fat contract or a legend who has brought us a career's worth of success.

Anyone gonna utter a word about Rakitic "using PSG to get more money out of us" the same way they shat on other important players in our squad? Or does he get a pass on this?

And I don't wanna hear "but we don't even know if this is true" as if that benefit of doubt was ever extended to Messi, Umtiti, or Busquets during their contract sagas.

It was stupid to believe that Messi would leave, Umtiti and Busquets too, so why discredit him beforehand as well?
I'll criticize him + the board when the sale is done, not before. Rumours say the board won't offer him a better contract, and that is fine - I really don't think he will leave because of it.

1. How do you know what he thinks? Do you know the guy? Has he told you?
2. That "using PSG to get more money" was writen by someone just a few pages ago, so obviously he doesn t get a pass.
3. You don t want to hear, you don t know nothing? Ok, i wont say it than.

I wonder how much Arsenal paid for the young 19 year old French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi ?

I've only seen him play two games ( against top opposition ) but he looks to be as effective as Rakky already ...

I personally don't care if that's what Rakitic is even doing, which is unlikely in the first place. My point was on the double standards that those players suffered so much vitriol regarding their contracts and how they "don't deserve higher wages and yearly extensions, let them go elsewhere" because the sagas happened to be around times where they were in less than stellar form or something like that. So my comment was moreso about the sentiment than the players themselves.

And not just the double standard, but the entire premise is stupid too. Of course a player is gonna act in his self interests and try to get higher wages. It's up to the board to fuck off with the clear wastes of space on the wage bill like Paulinho/Gomes/Paco were and Rabiot will be if he comes.

And stop giving outrageous wages to players that don't deserve it, which is a precedent we've already set that's led to others in the squad feeling they are worth more and asking for more money in response. Rakitic isn't worth a raise but he will demand one anyway and from his perspective it makes sense.

Conceding on wages and transfer fees is a Pandora's Box we've opened that is going to be extremely difficult to undo. At least we've done well on the transfers end by making some smart pre-deals (Arthur), jacking a last minute signing (Malcom), and dealing with a reasonable club like Bayern (Vidal). If we had gone for Malcom initially before Roma was ever interested, Bordeux would likely have told us to fork over like 70-80m+. But since they already set a low price for Roma, we were able to come in and slightly raise it because they had no grounds to just randomly ask for like 30-40m more just because it's Barca.

Rakitic is at a disadvantage anyway when it comes to contract negotiations.

Signed a new deal not to long ago until 2021 and he's 30 years old. Made it real easy for the club to laugh at his demands of trying to get a new contract with the wages PSG offered and his clause is pretty high (125 Million euros) And the club doesn't want to sell him so he's stuck here unless PSG is willing to pay his clause with less than 10 days left in the window.

Talk with PSG regarding our players should be like this:

- Hey, we're interested in signing your player, ........ ........... Can we meet and discuss about it?
- Shut the fuck up. Release clause is .... million euros. Call us back when you have the money.

I do not think Rakitic should be criticized. Has not done anything just yet and his performance has not dropped. I do not blame him if he wants to get more or leave because we all can see that it is just a matter of time before Arthur takes his place.

If he wants to leave then we should allow that to happen. He is one of the most professional players I have seen, and for me, he is one of Barcelona's legends.

PSG can fuck off or come up with the money since they have it so much.

We should make a move for Alphonse Areola. He was world class during his loan in Villarreal and his contract expires next summer.

I don't see why we shouldn't be selling him if PSG comes up with a good offer.

We would still be having 6 mid fielders for 3 positions if he was sold - Coutinho, Arthur, Vidal, Busi, Rafinha & Denis along with Samper I would consider just a player.

Not to mention the promising youngsters in the B team, for a change.

Also, may be we will bridge the gap between PSG and us & hopefully this would increase our chances to sign MBappe in future?

PS: Please do not get Rabiot!

If PSG wants Raki so bad, they can offer Mbappe to Barça ;) no one would mind a bit. Barca could add some "pocket money cash", no one would mind.

P.P.S: Please GOD NO do not get Rabiot!
