Ok game, but totally dominated by Real midfield.

Hope Arthur plays from start on Saturday.

Suarez played a bad first touch pass every time when he received a ball.
Dembele will either create a magical move or will play a horrible pass, the same as Suarez.
Semedo is not playing in the opponent's half.
Roberto was running around without too much contribution as a playmaking midfielder.

That basically means that the only players passing the ball were Rakitic, Busquets, Messi, Alba and 2 Cbs.

Regarding comments how we were outplayed?
On my Tv, we had possession and Real was playing deadly counters.
I wouldn't say that Casemiro, Modric and Kroos have outplayed Rakitic and Busquets.

We'll see tomorrow's player's ratings in papers.

Do you own a TV?

In 82th minute, the posession was 51-49 for Real Madrid, when the statistic came on. In the end it was 48-52 for us, since Real gave up after 85th or so.

I might add... 0 shots from Barca in 1st half. 0.

Yeah you might need to check ratings to understand football we don't.

No midfield control, cheap giveaways and playing as a CB at times constitutes a good game these days. He improved in the 2nd half but the bar set in the first half was shockingly low.

Do you own a TV?

Even if he has he doesn't use it. As he said, he'll check tomorrow's newspaper for player ratings to form his opinion

we had a 60+ possession rating by half time if i remember correctly.

It was 51-49 in 82nd minute for RM. I posted that in chat. Later, RM gave up (in 85th minute or so), combine that with our timewasting and the ending posession stat is 52-48 for us.

Joan, BBZ and some others, just got to laugh at some of absurdity and the wicked colored glasses these folks watch Barca matches with, if they even watch at all.

We played THE BEST midfield in the world, in a match in their place, in a match that is their last realistic chance at a trophy, against our mortal enemy who we have pretty much owned lately. We also played with our utility (5th choice) attacking midfielder around Busi and Rakitic. Our midfield, including favorite hatoraide target, did alright.

You know never mind I have been convinced, they failed, they suck. That is why we lost 3-0. As they are not in a prime Xavi-Iniesta-Busi level, good riddance to all and bring in the La Masia kids for matches like this!!! We will just recycle the next group of midfielders over and over until we get one like XIB, even if it takes 1000 years!!! Barca Way Baby!

Could be said about you, tbh

We played THE BEST midfield in the world,

*spits out coffee*

in a match in their place,

El Clasico is usually synonymous with home and away not really mattering at all as far as results go. We don't call it the Bernaleo for nothing.

in a match that is their last realistic chance at a trophy, against our mortal enemy who we have pretty much owned lately.

Real Madrid has "Pretty much owned lately"? Their last 3 games before this were a 2-1 against Levante where they barely managed to score in the final ten minutes, a 2-1 loss to Girona (lol), and a 2-1 win over Ajax that also saw them score in the closing minutes to squeeze out the win. Seriously... what universe do you live in that you have to jack off to Real Madrid's imaginary quality to make yourself feel good about the team beating them?

We also played with our utility (5th choice) attacking midfielder around Busi and Rakitic. Our midfield, including favorite hatoraide target, did alright.

Roberto is easily the best choice for midfield if Arthur is out. Vidal is kind of dogshit and the same applies to Coutinho, while Alena just isn't Clasico level yet. Just because he's "5th choice" doesn't mean his history of casually destroying Madrid from the wing or midfield isn't valid when considering him being able to do it again.

You know never mind I have been convinced, they failed, they suck. That is why we lost 3-0. As they are not in a prime Xavi-Iniesta-Busi level, good riddance to all and bring in the La Masia kids for matches like this!!! You should probably go set up your strawmen somewhere else, I'm allergic.

I don't think Rakitic had a bad game but I disagree with BBZ8800 that we had possession.
Rakitic and Busquest have a normal game. Roberto didn't contribute much for ball distribution in midfield and Rakitic and Busquest are too static to break Real's press on their own. Can't blame them though it's the natural of Rakitic-Busquest duo this season

Less than you in my opinion, I try to be open to all the players that try hard in the Barca shirt and will even adjust opinions based on play. I rarely scapegoat single players for being critical problems with the team because our ups and downs as a TEAM are usually much more complicated.

Are you serious, name me a better midfield than Modric-Kroos-Casmiro in world football since Xavi retired.

Roberto is easily the best choice for midfield if Arthur is out..

I have no contention with him being the best choice. But presented in this list of world midfielders footballers (and please lets take the Barca hateraid club from this forum out of it), which is the one who doesn't belong? Modric, Kroos, Casmiro, Roberto, Rakitic & Busquets. One name has no business on this list and another borderline belongs. And both of those represent 2/3 of the midfielders Barca started. This is one area of the pitch, in this math, where if we held our own most of the game we would take it.

Real's midfield has been so good that we haven't see it at all this year. Must be mindgames to trick Barca into thinking they are shit. Surely they aren't actually shit, are they?

I try to be open to all the players

Yeah your declaration of Raki=4.33x Alena surely showed that.

Or are you open to only those players who have good transfermarket stats?

Are you serious, name me a better midfield than Modric-Kroos-Casmiro in world football since Xavi retired. .

Yeah surely since they were good in the past they must good now as well. Wait a minute now your Raki love is making sense. You never took off your nostalgia glasses.

Let's see how Spanish and foreign papers have seen the match:
1. Rakitic compared to other Barca's midfielders and players
2. Rakitic compared to Real's midfield, which, according to some here: dominated us completely

Sport360:
Roberto 6: Selected in midfield to help keep Vinicius in check and gave steady performance, covering every blade of a grass.
Busquets 7: Ocassionally dithered dangerously in possession, but he was excellent defensively in protecting his back four.
Rakitic 7: Read the game well, doing more than anyone to give his team control in midfield and shutting down Modric and Kroos.

Mirror:
Casemiro 6: Like Madrid as a whole, good for half the game but in the 2nd half lost control.
Modric 5: The longer the game went on, the less influence the Croatian had as he tired.
Kroos 6: Fine showing before the break as Madrid dominated but got lost afterwards.

Busquets 5: Looked slow and was caught on the ball several times, below his imperious best.
Rakitic 6: The only Barca player to pull his weight in the first half, with good running and tackling.
Roberto 5: Picked in midfield to aid ball circulation but he couldn't help Barca control the game.

90min:
Casemiro 6
Kroos 6
Modric 6

Roberto 6
Busquets 7
Rakitic 7

Marca:
The best Barca's performers in this order:
Ter Stegen
Dembele
Suarez
Rakitic: Moved to the left of the three-man midfield engine room and put in a great performance. Recovered possession and connected well with Messi and Alba.
Pique
Busi
Messi
Lenglet
Alba
Roberto
Semedo, yet on Barca forum MOTM thread, Semedo had lots of Top3 players ratings by our fans, way more than Rakitic.

Espn:
Rakitic 6: Perhaps the best of Barca's trio of midfielders. Links well with the attack and is always well-positioned in defense.
Busquets 6: Produced one brilliant block on Vinicius after the teenager had skinned Pique, but still not quite at his best in midfield.
Roberto 6: Provided more of a backing role than anything else in a low-key, if productive, performance as the third midfielder.

SkySports:
Casemiro 5
Modric 6
Kroos 6

Busquets 6
Rakitic 6
Roberto 6

Mundo Deportivo:
Semedo 1 star
Pique, Lenglet, Alba, Roberto, Busquets, Rakitic, Messi 2 stars

Sport:
Busquets 6: Showed confidence in himself but lost some balls in dangerous places. However, he helped Barca's rhythm after the break.
Roberto 6: Had clashes with everyone in midfield, didn't give up, bringing hard work and sacrifice.
Rakitic 6: Tried to add rhythm in the centre. Had cold blood but found it hard to get fluidity.

Semedo the weakest rating rating by both Sport and Mundo Deportivo.

SofaScore:
Casemiro 6,5
Modric 7,1
Kroos 7,4

Busquets 6,8
Rakitic 6,8
Roberto 6,7
