Who was the best and 2nd best midfielders from last season if I may ask ?
Honestly, we had no standout performer in midfield last season. Arthur had the best "peak" games, but had a very average patch of form at the end. Vidal looked the best vs Liverpool, but more thanks to his pleasing, combative style, not quality in possession and Rakitic was just average - noone to really rely on. Busquets as well.

Vidal was the best midfield player by far at the end of last season. He played some really nice passes against Liverpool and done massive defensive work. ImO we should play Arthur-Vidal-De Jong, Busqets on the bench and Rakitic to sell.

However you just have to laugh/cry at the manner in which the likes of Xavi,Iniesta or hell even Maschrano, when realizing that they can no longer play at this level and left on their own accord and then compare it with Rakitic's delusion. smh

Rakitic was Rakitic.
Busquets was a tree.
Vidal offered a good fighting spirit, but was meh in majority of matches and in general is probably even worse fit for Barca than Rakitic. And his first-touch-passing football is quite a weird fit for us when we are facing a parked bus against weaker La Liga teams.
His football is good though in Europe and in some rare 50:50 La Liga matches, which don't come too often.
Arthur, had some good matches, but very meh start and the end of a season where his only virtue was passing the ball to left or right all the time.
Alena and Puig, not even worth mentioning.
So, when Catalinutz said: the best midfielder, lol, who?
The better question is: who was the least bad?
No one. 4 guys with lots of pros and flaws, where none is actually a world class or nowhere near to a famous Barca's DNA Pep's era.
If Frenkie will make it, maybe we will have one world class guy.
With other 4 guys, a question will remain: who will suck the least?

Also lol @ trying to make a point that Arthur is not that good just because he is the 5'th pick of a coach who never learns anything and made every barca fan feel humiliated cause he blew a 3 goal lead 2nd year in a row.
