Valverde doesn't know shit man. No offense. Those issues existed way before the Liverpool game, and were well documented, and he still benched Arthur to play Rakitic.
Also, those holes still exist in our midfield mind you. It is a tactical issue first and foremost. Rakitic is not the main responsible for this. It's Valverde.

Only midfielder that has played in La Liga for Barcelona in the last 5 years that Rakitic is a few levels above is Gumbau mate.

No I don't but It's clear Arthur and De Jong should play and not that clown Roberto.
Mate Roberto can't get in the same sentence with Rakitic. If he wasn't La Masia product he would have been long gone from Barca. If we wanted to bench Rakitic than he should have been benched for better and not worse player.

Rakitic in his prime was obviously better than Roberto but now Roberto has got the legs Rakitic didn't seem to have last season. He even said the midfield needs to be more dynamic this season. And dynamism Rakitic did not show. Who knows.
Valverde clearly wants a player of a similar profile for that right CM spot, maybe that's why he's picking Sergi. Or he's been told not to play him(Rakitic) because they (board) want him gone.

If Rakitic stays, and ends up in Valverde's plans again (although that's looking unlikely) - the one position he didn't do that bad last season was as a DM when Busquets was rested/suspended.
Maybe that's the one place he can hope to get minutes at this point. But Busquets has started OK/decent and it looks to be Frenkie's long term position as well - so even there it's difficult to see a spot for him.
It's an interesting dilemma for sure.

Yes, I don't know what is happening.
Media were against him in a summer since he was one of scapegoats for Anfield's defeat.
And due to Frenkie's arrival, Alena and Puig.
But it seems that after 3 bad matches (remember that we played against Bilbao, bad for 40 minutes against Betis and then it clicked after 2 Griezmann's goals, and now 90 minutes against Osasuna).
Mundo Deportivo started to push for Rakitic in the last few days, as if he has to play again.
Sport is starting to push him into a team again.
And I have read an article today that even jurnous asked EV after a match about Raki and he was visibly upset.
Jurnous speculate that EV wants to play him but the board said: He can't play, bench him, we need money for Neymar or for wages in general.
But as always, after a few good matches, media and fans will fast lose patience for experiments and new ideas:
1. Semedo is probably already dead as a RB starter
2. Roberto is probably already dead as a CM starter
An interesting situation.
Let's see what the media will do next.

The season has barely started and there's already a lot of annoyed players due to lack of playing time. 8/9 midfielders is just ridiculous.
