Sorry I thought it was more. 2.5 years to be precise.

The bit in bold was about Bale. He's a fantastic player and I had no doubt how well he would do for Madrid. This season he'll be even better now that he's fit for pre season.

But it could easily have been about James too. Real are going to be the team to beat next season although I thought that last season and Atletico came from nowhere.

Downgrade, at least for the time being. No doubt James will be a great player in the future, but I don't think RM will have patience with him if he doesn't deliver immediately. I wouldn't be surprised if they dump him for whoever impresses this next season or the season after that.

Dumping a 80M marquee signing after just one season? No way, man, no way. They never sell their galacticos that soon. Hell, even Kaka lasted 4, and I think we can all agree that he didn't exactly set the world alight with his performances.
James will get room to improve in case he doesn't hit the ground running, which I honestly fear he will. From what I've seen, he looks tailored for La Liga football. How they'll fit him in, and whether it'll be for the good of the team, is another matter entirely.

James would be perfect on our right wing cutting in with his left foot. Suarez would be perfect for Real Madrid. We got the wrong guy.
