Just for his 6 world cup goals?Short tournaments should not be prioritized. He scored 9 goals in 34 matches for monaco.Dunno if he got less minutes though.
He's a midfielder. Those numbers are really good for a midfielder.

Bertus, who follows the French league closely, raved about James' season, claiming that he was second only to Zlatan. So, no, most likely not just for his WC performance, even though it obviously was a huge factor in the whole galactico scheme of things.

James would be perfect on our right wing cutting in with his left foot. Suarez would be perfect for Real Madrid. We got the wrong guy.

The last thing we need is another AM. And while he is good on the wings, he is not as effective there as behind the strikers.

Also, we needed a #9 so we got the best one in the world.

Without the World Cup, I think he would've still moved to RM, but the transfer would've only cost 50-60M euros. Actually quite nice compilation of season at Monaco:

He's very good on the wings. Porto plays 4-3-3 like Barca, there's no AM spot there. James mostly played on the right iirc.

Probably, yeah. The WC most likely sealed the matter seeing how they could turn him into another true galactico signing in terms of marketing and exposure.

What are they going to do with the extra midfielders now? I have to assume Isco and Di Maria are on their way out, but still how will they accommodate all 3 of Kroos, James and Modric. Are they going to play all three and force one into a defensive midfield role? Who's going to take the bench role of the 3? Modric?

What about Khedira? Illarramendi and Alonso? That's a lot of players for 3 spots.

Keepers are really poor in that leauge.

Probably because they're all African :mandanda: :pep: Enyeama is the only good African goalie I've ever seen. Nevertheless, the French league is very defensive. It has the least goals per game of any of the big leagues in Europe.

Di Maria is likely to leave, the issue is suitors willing to pay what RM are asking. Isco will also probably leave, Khedira might stay despite talks of Chelsea and Arsenal. Alonso will also probably stay but with a reduced role. James can play false 9 too but doubt that will happen. IMO Benzema should go to Arsenal. French, inconsistent, overrated but links well with midfielders - he's frikking perfect for Wenger.

Isco's highlight is way better..

So I assume they'll either pigeonhole Kroos or Modric into a CDM role or sit one of them for Alonso. Some risky game RM are playing.

I suppose they can play without Benzema and fit all 4 midfielders.
