I´d rather see us spend 20m on him than on Mathieu. Younger, PL experience rosell, can play LB too, and looks like a fighter out there.

Had a bad season, but he's better than Mathieu, not to mention 4 years younger. If we can really get him for around 25m, I'd much rather spend it on him than Mathieu. Definitely don't think he's ideal though.

Yep, fairly certain that was true (saw a lot of quotes at the time).

De Boer said he doesn't understand why Barcelona aren't interested, he's the perfect player for us; Ajax captain and youth player, just won the league as player of the year, fairly fast and strong, can play CB and LB, very cheap etc. etc. But instead we bought...

Oh and he was bought for around €15m while we paid €20m for Song, I think?

they should at least try it, at 22 million he isn't overpriced imo

Daniel Levy, their chairman, is a real pain to negotiate with and will make sure he gets every last penny out of the buying club.
