Jasper Cillessen

Hopefully he will do well in Copa Del Rey and the German will stay healthy. Bad thing is Germans and Dutch don't like each other hope it doesn't have some weird friction in the dressing room especially between keepers.

Germans and Dutch people go along well since 10-15 years.
Most of the people that where angry of WO2 are deceased, and most (like 95% of them) know living Germans had no part in that period of time.

We make jokes about them, just like we do about Belgium or France people, no anger anymore.

I recall reading MAtS having Dutch roots, including his gf. If there is any friction, it will be owing to the fact that he's fiercely competitive. I can't think of any top club buying a fairly young 'second' keeper for double digits whilst being picked by the technical staff. Just feels like Lucho & co are still not completely convinced by MAtS.

I'm willing to bet that Cillesen will be here to share keeping duties rather than be a back-up. :lucho:

Btw, if Ajax qualify to the CL group stages, will he become ineligible to play for Barca?

Yes, play offs don't matter. Same question was asked by madrid fans when De gea was included in Manchester 's cl play-off squad.

They register players for playoffs and after that for the main competition seperatley. I think if for eg we were playing in playoffs and Ajax too and if he was registered to Ajax for playoffs he wouldn't be able to play for us until the main comp.

Anyway. If he comes I hope he performs. He has Marc infront of him in my eyes and Masip too. But he'll at minimum be expected to be better than Jordi. But for the price I'd expect him to give Marc decent competition.

His girlfriend is a goalkeeper too so we are basically signing 2 keepers.

I am not sure whether you are serious or not, but I also share the feeling that this expensive somewhat young (for a Gk's age) GK isn't coming here only to play Cdr.

Mats will surely be a no1 now, but even if Mats will play well, there will be some rotation.
And if Mats will play badly, I can see Cilless getting an opportunity quite easily.

Lucho is way less emotional than fans.
He will play a Gk who is the best in this moment (this is why he was playing Bravo till now).
He will try to develop younger players also (this is why Mats played also), but he is willing to sacrifice results because of developing only up to a certain point.

All in all, Cilless will probably play MORE than just a few CDR matches.
Imo, he will play all Cdr matches, plus probably some La Liga+Cl matches.

And if Mats will have a bad spell for a few weeks, Lucho won't hesitate too long to turn our 2nd Gk (Cilless) into a No1 pick...

We do have Messi and the most expensive attacking trio ever, plus we have invested 120+ Millions this summer into new signings. Our squad is insanely good and expensive.
Lucho won't and can't be too emotional towards anyone (except Messi and Neymar) and whichever player will play weaker, he will be dropped.
This applies for Mats also now, since we are buying a Dutch NT Gk...

Don't like that move at all, I mean Bravo for Cillessen ?

God forbid Stegen would get seriously injured from now till forever, I shoulnd't watch a CL tie vs. top notch opposition or a clasico with him being our keeper...

You guys know that you didn't sign neuer right? Stekelenburg was beter in his last years at ajax than cillessen jasper is a average keeper.

Lol what? Are we still forcing that narrative that even with Bravo gone playing Mats is a risk and a potential sacrifice to our results?

Cillessen will probably play more than just CDR, I agree, but there's no way he'll be real competition for Mats in the long run, nevermind the one Mats gets dropped for. It's not like Bravo never had a run of bad or mediocre games and he didn't ever have to worry about getting dropped.

Clearly they don't trust MaTS. Not sure why but they wouldn't be making this move if they aren't convinced be can be the #1.

Honestly though, while he was solid and great at stopping PKs, I always thought MaTS was a better shot stopper and as good as a distributed as Bravo. Bravo was just older and had more La Liga experience, only reason why I was okay with him having La Liga. But I honestly think MaTS is ready and this move will do nothing but agitate and put him more on guard while we are kinda on thin ice with him anyway.

Why? You think they are buying Cillessen to complete for the 1st GK position like Bravo did? Most of us think he is being bought as the back-up keeper as he is not good enough to be a starting GK.
