About Cillessen, again he is a starting Gk from one of the best footballing countries.
He is somewhat young, and there is no way that he will come here to play 4-5 Cdr matches per year.

Our forum loves Mats and people are looking everything from his perspective (he is young, we need to give him chances, we will ruin his career etc).
But, Mats is 24 years old. He is not a German NT starter.
Cillessen is 27 years old, only 3 years older than Mats. He is a Dutch starter.

Now, since Cilless will be our player also, let's look at this from his point of view:
Would you, as a 27 years old, with 10 years of gk-career infront of you, while you are in best footballing years and on your prime, come to Fc Barcelona to be a benchwarmer for Mats and would you come here if you knew that Mats will play 38 La Liga matches per season and all key CL matches?
So, would you come here (as a Dutch NT starter) to Barca, to play 3-4-5-6 CDR matches per year (and most of those matches will be against monkey level 2nd and 3rd div level opponents)?

Add to this:
1. Lucho wanted 2 Gks and rotated them in his reign at Barca till now
2. Cillessen is not cheap at all. He will be more expensive than both Mats and Bravo (12 and 12M two years ago), right?
Prices have inflated slightly till then, but still, why would you buy 2 Gks for 12M two years ago and then rotate them for 2 years. And now, you are buying an even more expensive goalie and he is supposed to be a Cdr guy with 5 matches per season while Mats will play 50+ matches?
He will basically come here to ruin both his club and NT career (since he won't play here, and thus his form will be rusty and in the long run he will loose an NT place, plus his career will be dead in 3-4-5 years when he will leave Barca. Why on Earth would any sane person do that and come here to play 5 Cdr matches per year?)

Something is just strange.
Either Lucho again wants 2 equally good goalies.
Or we are buying the most expensive sub ever.

Look at Digne. We paid him a lot, and he surely won't play 5 Cdr matches per season. He will rotate with Alba heavily, it seems.
Umtiti. We paid him a lot. He will play a lot surely.
I don't believe that Cillessen will be the only expensive signing who won't play at all.

GOOD!!! This is Barcelona. There should be competition for playing time and that includes the keepers.

Masip is nowhere near the required level because he's just too short and that causes him a lot of problems. Cillessen is better and more experienced. For a 2nd keeper he will do the job fine I think.

He also said Cillessen is more than capable of challenging MAtS for the #1 spot.

It's nice to see most folks well disposed to his signing. Unlike ManU fans, who'd gone into a panic-mode at the thought of Cillessen replacing DDG last season. There was mayhem at RC. :p
The rumoured figure (14m €) will make the dutchman the 7th most expensive keeper signing. It feels like they will have 'em both compete, and the unhappy one will be sold at a profit in couple of years à la Bravo. :bartomeu: knows!

Ofcourse they were in panic mode. Selling a player like DDG and replacing him with Cilissen would warrant that much reaction. While barca fans are not that worried because everyone expects Mats to start la liga and CL. What i dont get is why he Cilissen is joining us, maybe he just wants to win trophies and get paid for sitting on bench while that happens. He is too young for that but whatever.

Could probably get a whole videos worth of those from Valdes and he was one of best ever with ball at feet.

Ask keepers to play with ball at feet a lot and mistakes will happen.

Indeed Masip is a midget in the world of the class gks both in terms of height and quality...
