Sucks for Bilbao though. Well they do have youth development. What can you do. Javi wanted to leave and go to Bayern. Bayern wanted him. Only Athletic refused. Some clubs really have to see REALITY and let their players go. The drama is so unnecessary.

What can they do? They can put a higher release clause to start with. Maybe even sign or develop non-Basque players to have a bigger talent pool to choose from. I don't know if any not-Madrid/Barca club could rival the big 2, but Bilbao looked great in the cup competitions. Maybe they could've built from that, but we'll never know now that the vultures are circling and picking off their talents one by one.
