Jean-Clair Todibo

I hope he goes in Bundesliga too. Literally either of the 3 clubs mentioned are better options than Milan. Leverkusen would be a great option.

German clubs in the vein of Leverkusen, Schalke etc. are no joke.

It will be bloody difficult for Todibo to crack those starting XIs consistently at the current stage of his development. Our fans tend to have this inflated self-image of the level of our talents and tend to assume since they are at a club of our stature that they can simply walk into the lineups of midtable clubs in the top 4 leagues.

Reality is Todibo's maximum level achieved so far is 10 matches on a relegation fodder Ligue 1 club with an average rating of 6.79.

It truly is remarkable how out of touch the average new age Barca fan is. There are genuinely blokes out there that have suggested a Dortmund loan move for Puig.

Fecking hell...

He just played vs Inter and stood out. I'm sure he can handle playing vs Augsburg and Mainz. Plus, he's getting away from Valverde, so this is always a step up in your career as a youngster.

But 6 months loan is too short. We should loan him like Madrid loaned Hakimi. 2 year loan or sale + buyback clause.

He played well against Inter, but that was one match. There was also nothing on the line in game for us, which makes a big difference psychologically to a young player.

There is more to the managerial aspect of the sport than Valverde. The disillusioned Barca fan in 2020 often paints a picture with two absolutes; one with Valverde and one without. That is a false dichotomy however and things are far more nuanced than Valverde = bad and not Valverde = good.

Other managers, especially at clubs like Leverkusen or Schalke are under immense pressure to meet certain goals and are expected to make a strong bid for the top 4 every season. It is not their first imperative to integrate and develop some 20 year old green talent from Barcelona. They want to win and CB is a crucial position. Todibo's opportunities will be sparse and if he does not take the ones he is given then he will quickly find himself on the bench or even possibly the reserves for the rest of the season. For that reason alone a 2 year loan is absurd.

Bottom line is Todibo needs minutes to develop. He will be expected to deliver immediately at the aforementioned clubs or will quickly be cast off.

Well, one thing is for sure. Anything is better than not playing at all almost, which was his situation under Valverde. So, IT IS better for him that he gets away from Valverde. Unless you wanna explain why rubbing the bench or watching games from the stands is good for a 19 year old player.

The crux of the story is.

Todibo doesn't want to go unless he still has some sort of link to Barca, such as a buyback clause or just a regular loan. Milan is getting pissed because they don't want to abide by such requests. Well tough shit Milan, go and look at other targets then.

Di Marzio saying Todibo won't accept a move to Milan unless he can return to Barcelona in the near future. Schalke, on the other hand, is willing to take him on a 6-month dry loan which Todibo is certainly leaning towards accepting.

Yeah, makes no sense from Barcelona perspective to let him go anywhere without an assurance of getting him back at the end of the loan. Fortunate the player feels similarly

Yea, but 6 month loan is too short time to make an impact. We should make it a loan until the summer of 2021. Like I said in the past, few manager would take a chance with a talent they could very well lose after 6 months. It's just not realistic.

Playing young players is a sort of investment for at least medium term, if not long term. Why would Schalke manager play Todibo for 6 months? He's not a world superstar to play great from the start and help them in their pursuit of CL places or whatever their objective is. In the deals we make, we have to give these teams incentive to develop the player. They have to feel they have something important to gain from doing so. Looking at this from Schalke's perspective, it's one thing to develop Todibo knowing next season you could reap the fruits of developing him, and a completely different thing is to give him valuable playing time, only so he can return to Barca in the summer.

We're so terrible. We don't do things that are well planned and thought out. This fucking board needs to go and take their clown Valverde with them.
