what would be nice is if Zubi & Co just forgot about Marquinhos who isn't actually that great and who most Barca fans don't even want and focused on signing Benatia (a MUCH better CB who actually wants to leave his current club).

Marquinhos wants to leave too (surely no-one has forgotten about Marquinhos favoriting a tweet about his move to Barca?), but it's not because the player wants to leave that he'll be sold.

Roma's president said Benatia won't be sold for less than 61M, of course that's an exaggeration, but he certainly will be more expensive than 40M too.

But since then and we have no proof he wants to leave beside that tweeter fav and Catalan newspapers:

- Marquinhos gave an interview to TF1 in which he said he has no problem. That he is a PSG player.
- Laurent Blanc was asked if marquinhos asked him a ticket to leave, he replied Marquinhos did not.

Now if you don't know Laurent Blanc, you could think he lies, but if you know him a bit, you know he doesn't since that when it's unclear, he's vague on purpose.

Check the podcast i posted. he's very clear about marquinhos, and super vague about Lavezzi. Just like he always is. When he's sure of something, he says it. When he doesn't want to reply, he's vague.

He was making fun of Man City when he said that. Man City can only spend 60M net this year and AS Roma's Sporting director basically said "Fuck you, you can't afford Benatia." Which is why Walter Sabitini is an absolute legend.

That's not including departures.

If players are sold, they can spend more.

For example, if they sell yaya for 30M, then they can spend 30M again.

Also, we never got confirmation of it since the public documents don't show "60M".

Sure there's a ceiling, but for example, if they spen d 65M instead of 60M I don't think UEFA will ban them for 5M, especially since it will be covered by new partners contracts and renewed sponsors contracts.

There's a reason why I said NET, mayn. :p

What does it change with what i said?

If they sell yaya for 30M net, they can spend 90M (30+60) net on Benatia.

Look. What I meant in saying 60M net, was to mean they can have a -60M balance when it comes to the end of the transfer market. Ergo $$$ from players sold subtracted from $$$ from players bought must equal 60M euros.

Oh alright.

That's true, but i'll add we don't know the details about how new partners contracts can change things.

I'll give a PSG example to illustrate. When Le_Parisien went gathering infos about the FFP sanctions and how to deal with it, PSG board told them about a ceiling (the rumored 60M) but that their new renewed contracts (Nike, FE, Ooredoo, Nivea), and new partners to announce in the summer can ease other transfers beside "the one" we have the right to do.

I think the documents clubs have are a lot more precise and complicated than what was released to the public.

They already bought Fernando for 12M (not sure euro or pounds), and or rumoured to buy Caballero for 8M (pounds?). If they sell Yaya, they'll need to sign another high-profile midfielder. So they're certainly limited in their funds to buy Benatia too.

I suppose Man City can just sign a new sponsorship with Etihad for 100M euros. :xavi:

That was just an example. We don't know the exact terms of the FFP. It's like the wage bill. PSG told to Le_Parisien that they can be on the edge and not get more sanctions.

If the bill is just a bit bigger than what's allowed they were told it's no problem.

On a side note, I don't believe MC will buy Benatia, I think Chelsea will.

Why not.

PSG got away with a 100-120M euros deal instead of the 175M originally planned before the FFP.

It put a precedent.

Tomorrow if MC signs a contract of 100M with a "state", then UEFA cna't say shit since they allowed PSG to do the same.

Not sure why people interpreted it this way. Weak foot 30 million. Stronger foot 31.
