Mathieu needs to take all the free kicks. Push the dictator off them :messi:

Seriously though, that free kick was insane :worthy:

Mathieu is good. His haters should just deal with it :)

He is good as in good for a 31 years old defender who's clumsy on the ball and misplaces tackles and passes all the time. He is good in the air and he tries, but everytime he's up against a fine dribbler, he shows his limits and then some. Cavani tore him up, James also did, Vela did it too. He's a fine squad player, absolutely not a starter in any top 10 team the world, I mean, he wouldn't even start at Arsenal.

He is comfortable with the ball at feet and passes it well.

The only game he has really looked shaky in that respect was the Real Madrid game where he as flung in at LB and his head looked all over the place.

He's a 5/10 on ball controll. Pique, Bartra, Mascherano are a league above him. In fact, they're better than him at everything except height. Mathieu provides cover for the CB spot and he adds some height. That's about it. He's good enough for most of the games we play, but he'd be my last choice against the likes of Madrid, Atletico, City, Bayern etc.
