Joan Laporta

Puyol the wall

"Rosell wanted to sell Puyol, Xavi and Valdes for losers,” Laporta told Catalunya Radio.

"The current board is trying to change the four pillars of the club: [Johan] Cruyff, La Masia, Catalunya and UNICEF.”

Laporta has not ruled out a potential return to the corridors of power at Camp Nou - a prospect he feels Rosell and the current board would not relish.

"Rosell and company are nervous about the fact that I expressed publicly an interest in returning to Barca; it seems that they want anything but that to happen,” he concluded.

It's his word against Sandro's I guess.
We know Laporta wanted Beckham and when he refused us, it was Sandro who stole Ronaldinho right under Ferguson's nose.

This, until we get official info I cant side one way or the other.
But it does seem like Rosell isnt in good relations with UNICEF.

Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta feels the current board overworked Pep Guardiola last season.

Guardiola has left Barca citing exhaustion as the main reason for his decision.

"What would have been nice is that Guardiola had continued coaching the club. For the reasons he has explained, he could not. He was tired, obviously, because he had to work roles that he should not have been doing during this season," rapped Laporta.

Laporta also said: "Can Barca seriously ask fans if this is the best season in the club's history. No top-level titles. I ask if they prefer Barça this season or the one which we won the Liga title, Champions League and all that was there to win."

Barca 2010/11 is the best so far for me, but 2011/12 is pretty darn close behind. Hope 2012/13 is a repeat of 08/09

I ran across this documentary a few years ago on Laporta's first year and reminded me a lot of the Ronaldinho years. Both Laporta and Ronaldinho changed the club immensely.
