When was the last time Laporta took a tough decision?
Cowardly politician who lucked out with Pep,Messi and golden generation.

No ball knowledge.
He had already won the UCL before golden generation.
Yeah, he won a CL. However that was a different era. Brazilians, even the talented ones went to cut their teeth in the lesser leagues like France and Holland. We got Ronnie for a very reasonable price and he was the catalyst for our revival. Not to mention a fabulous striker like Eto. We had a real leader like Puyol, nor Serghei fucking Roberto. Also Xaviesta were coming into prominence and contributing to the team.
Laporta survived a vote of no confidence and lucked out with Pep and golden generation. Without them he would be floundering, like he is now.

Yeah we had great players that's why we won UCL like any other team.

Beckham rejected Barca, wasn't attracted to the idea of playing among nobodies compared to Galacticos Madrid. Alex Ferguson put Becks on the transfer list after that legendary boot incident, the tabloids and Man Utd accepted Barca's offer. How things developed after that I'm glad we didn't sign David Beckham.

Another version of the story is that Rosell and Florentino had made a deal and the whole transfer saga was just a publicity stunt.

Beckham mentioned in his recent Netflix documentary how angry he was at Man Utd for accepting Barca's offer. He never wanted to leave, but Fergie thought different.

You have made some mistakes Don Juan and things are not going well, but you gave us the ONLY period in our history when we dominated European football. Some of us will never forget it. :laporta2:

It was a genius move from the largely unknown Laporta team to agree a deal with Beckham and signal their intent to the world.

Laporta is very obviously not a football guy, but wouldn't say he was lucky. He hired competent people, listened to the advice of competent people.

He's the one who hired guys like Txiki and handed him the keys to build two CL winning sides that were very different. Did listen to Cruyff and take his advice.

Now his closest advisor is a fucking clown that's a former handball player. He's as good as the people he surround himself with.

“What happened (in Madrid) was a disgrace. The refereeing collective has to respond to the pressures that are occurring this season. If they don’t do it, it will leave us very uneasy because it is a neglection of duties.”
