Unless you are Klopp or Pep, you should not decide what players come and go. And even Klopp had some terrible ideas, such as being against signing Salah, luckily Liverpool’s board didn’t listen. Probably only Pep has final say when it comes to transfers, but even he fucked up when he was in his first years here with Zlatan.

Laporta gave green light to Xavi, to goddamn Xavi to bring whatever player he likes. What a monumental error that has proved to be.

I said it before the election that Laporta is as good as his sidekick.
He allows his guys to do their thing and weighs in when there is differences. He didn't want Pep for example but appointed and supported him based on Crujif and Txiki advice.
He didn't want Xavi, but took Alemany advice and hired him, supported both guys.
In ideal world, Pep get sick of coaching and act as new advisor, but that is a fairy tale dream.
Let's see how Deco is going to do.

To be fair, he never wanted to hire Xavi according to reports back then. Basically had to be convinced by Rafa Yuste and Enric Masip to hire Xavi. Think Alemany ended up being on board too.

He also kinda mockingly said Xavi wasn't ready due to his inexperience mere 3-4 months before in the summer when he tried to find a replacement for Koeman and all that drama.

Shouldn't have renewed him though, but at least it wasn't a long extension.

Thats even worse really.

It was wrong decision, but it is also a common mistake in the sport tbh.
Coaches wants safety during their work, extension is the way they feel secured in the job long term.
Same shit happened when we renewed EV inearly 2019 or so. Was another mistake back then.

Of course Xavi would want it.. why wouldnt he want more money over longer term?

The job of board is to decide if deserves it and how much he should get if extended.

Meh… to offer an opposite perspective, there’s a difference between weight and weight. Weight is not an absolute indicator of health. That is, one can be overweight while having normal health values. Spaniards substitute butter for olive oil, and fast food for home cooked hearty meals full of nutritious vitamins. It has a huge emphasis on natural ingredients.

Grass fed butter's healthy.

Clown-show continues :clown:
gonna be interesting to see if these clowns stand behind this if Barca finish outside of the top 4 and the financial implications it will have on the club.

Vert strong possibility given the state of the team right now.

Any other top club would sack this incompetent manager if they were in this situation right now.

It's almost as if our boards and the presidents are deliberately trying to sabotage the club.
It's clear as day that this isn't getting better, it's just going to get worse.
The only reason Laporta keeps Xavi is to bide some time and get the right man in the summer.
However CL qualification is at stake here. We miss out on CL and we jump from the frying pan straight into the fire.
The Xavi era is over. Ended today. If Laporta can't see that he needs to be kidnapped and thrown into a mental asylum.

Laporta is the biggest clown going

Said it before that whilst I don't rate Hansi Flick, I was hopeful Laporta would buck the trend on nepotism but here we are, same shit different president.

Napoli will maul us in the CL, he'll sack Xavi and give it to Marquez. Cycle continues and we waste another season. Ironic we are building a bigger stadium, we'll be losing fans at this rate. Who would pay to watch this shower of shit?

Politics will be the end of Barca as a 'top club'

Exactly. Why would fans want to come to this shitshow? Laporta has lost the plot.

Just read an article from last summer so not one twisting knife now.

But it basically said Laporta to get in power lied about Messis renewal as Messi/public would believe in their relationship from the past.

Knowing his failure in 2015 when produced no real support or future plan he enacted a plan... get support from ex Barca players such as Deco and Marquez in campaign videos etc and put together a list of qualified names for the roles on board.. Reverter etc.

Marquez for that backing was given a job... which resulted in paying 1m for Pimienta to go...

Deco the same.

Etoo be next if wants one?

In the sports side of it take away the name of Xavi from Fort and use the name of Cruyff/Alemany and even Planes who was already there.

Reality when elected... it was largely a front to use the names and qualified individuals almost all of whom have left as were undermined and since friends/family of Laporta and Masip have been given roles.. many of them not qualified for roles given.

On the sports side a lot of power rather than to Cruyff/Alemany/Planes was given to Mendes/Deco/Laporta himself, Matip and Laporta brother in law all having a say.

Mendes has a huge say and is being given access to the young Barca players as well as influencing the likes of Felix coming in.

It is a scary read of the amount of qualified people that have left for friends/family at all levels.

Surrounding yourself with yes men is the worst scenario in any organization.

Eto'o would be fun, he's controversial, but won't last. He'd turn on the team once results go down, his ego, being impeccable.

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
Keep Eto'o as far away from Barcelona as possible based on reports of what he is doing in Cameroon.

Great player, and a legend in that regard, but seems like a total piece of shit as a human being.

As for Laporta then the lack of professionals in the club is fairly obvious. His brother-in-law's influence is known among all small and big local papers, journalists and reporters in Barcelona.

Don't think the club have a great future with its current model considering every President that is elected just appoints their buddies.

Guys like Reverter and Jaume Giro left because they told him that the only way out of the financial mess was to change the ownership model and open up for investors.

Laporta and the current board decided to take a different route with palancas instead, but god knows what will come out when his tenure ends. Don't think Laporta stands for re-election.
