Can't wait to get past this non-fotball related dick measuring contest.. who cares who supported Franco? He was a dictator, of course everyone played his fiddle out of terror. This is childish behaviour from both of the clubs...instead of both clubs working together to make la liga stronger and remove that clown at the helm, Tebas successfully made barca and madrid war against themselves based on their ego and heritage...shame, shame, shame
Yeah,I agree. Having said that we either need to move to another league or threaten to move to another one. That would ruin la Liga and tarnish Real Madrid. Without us they are diminished. Tebas is a clown. Instead of making la liga stronger he is only interested in destroying Barca and ranting about the oil clubs. The fool wants to turn European football into WWE with Madrid as perrenial champions. I hope City tear them apart.

Barca and Real Madrid beefing on Twitter lol, sensational stuff.

Like watching a former couple airing their dirty laundry on Facebook.

Not great response from Madrid either.

Could have simply called out Laporta for talking bollocks but instead respond with equally delusional conspiracy about how Franco was actually a cule.

The ones handling Madrid's twitter should be fired on the spot.
They embarrass their club really.
Everyone who has opened a wikipedia, let alone a history book, knows that the Franco regime murdered a Barca president.

Ridiculous stuff from Madrid PR

Talking about Madrid not a good look. They don't have millions of euros of payments to Negreira over several years. Don't get me wrong I believe there is a slight Madrid bias and there have been some truly shocking decisions that miraculously turn out to be good for Madrid and bad for us. No proof though so what's the point? Leave that sort of talk to us fans talking shite not the fucking president of the club.

It is a well documented fact that several members of referee committee and referees themselves, are socios of RM.

Laporta did a typical political move, bringing a truth and used it for generalisation.

As for RM, they were classy at first and then decided to make cheap move tbh, probably under pressure of their socios.
At the end, they are the ones who made it an off-field classico, Laporta just accepted the invitation

Disappointing press conference and typical Laporta, the fireband, the showman, the politician without much substance. Not much was spent on explaining the details of what the external investigation found, rather it was focused on attacking the whole wide world that is out to get us and sugarcoating his own presidency.

If I am not mistaken, he said the tax agency had not been able to prove that the money we paid any any impact on the results of the matches. Again, that doesn’t mean much, as the focus is the on the intent.

What do you want him to do? Like honestly?

If their external investigation suggested some wrongdoing while they don't believe the prosecution have any evidence of proving it why the hell would he implicate himself and the club?

Intent doesn't mean squat if the club really got all the documents he showed they have proving they paid for refereeing analysis. You cannot prove intent if you don't have anything else to back up that claim.

Like make it make sense?

Joan Laporta's job is not to explain to his socis why the club did this or that and go on suggesting or explaining they did something wrong. His job is to weather the storm and ensure everyone that Barcelona did nothing wrong.

Yup. Not much new that we didn’t know already, other than those 600+ referee reports and 30+ (?) CDs etc. that are corresponding to 2014 - 2018. What about pre-2014? When he was presiding over the club?

Just show us the entire investigative report, or all its findings. At least send it to the socis, we deserve to see it.

He didn’t attack Ceferin though, right? I read that he kinda praised him for being prudent and not assuming that we are guilty, trying to separate Tebas from the rest of the entities out there.

Pre-2014 was already answered, the club delete/shred those reports after 5 years of their making, which isn't all that strange tbh. No need to archive everything in such institution tbh.

Also the 2014-2018 are the period we are attacked the most. The claims were that Barca raised the amount they pay, with no return and just verbal promises.

The 600 document is actually pretty big in the whole case, it shows what we paid our money for.

The club seem 100% confident nothing will come out of this in court so why would you want him to even suggest they did something wrong and give them ammo to use against us?

Nobody is contesting that Negreira Jr sold legitimate services on refereeing reports. Many other clubs had also worked with him and they are not being looked into because that bit is fine.

The problem is how the money made the way to his refereeing committee dad (Negreira Sr) as it has always been, who does not sell such services and therefore shouldn't have received any of the money.

These 600 refereeing reports don't answer that question as it is already established they came from Negreira Jr and not Sr. We are still trying to figure out why Sr was paid.

Maybe. But he should go if the intent was indeed corruption and that happened under his administration.

It is damaging the image of the club and he was directly responsible for that if the allegations are indeed true. Not only that but mes que un club isn't said for no reason. We are a high class sporting institution and it is shameful if actually tried to bribe CTA officials.

AFAIK the club stance has been always that the money was paid to the company, not to either of them. How the money get to either of them is non of our business, we dealt with the son and essentially paid his company

Yes but that isn't evidence of foul play, no point claiming there's no evidence against barca and then claiming Madrid are favoured with no evidence to back it up.

I'd expect a bit more maturity than "they started it" from Laporta tbh. I'd tell off a child for that sort of mindset, let alone the president of an institution as big as the club.

Laporta could have completely avoided speaking about Real Madrid. The issue at hand is the Negreira case and Barca, not getting into a spat with Real.

Not excusing the video Real released btw, they're in the wrong for that.

Having a discussion about whether or not we paid Negreira Sr is pointless, the authorities already established it, the tax office confirmed we were paying directly to him and further that no invoices existed corresponding to services provided by him.

If that is the argument then going to be an easy ride for the prosecutors.

From my perspective what it looks like is the club have no good explanation for the payments and are trying to conflate Negreira Jr with Negreira Sr hoping that people can't tell the difference.

In my professional view (Not this specific area but law is my day job) I think Laporta is just trying to buy time and muddy the waters to minimise a potential punishment/delay it.

Despite what is said or argued about in public, the prosecutors have been pursuing this case for a while and probably all significant evidence in the case has already been collated behind the scenes. Keeping that in mind, accusing a club as big of Barcelona of corruption and bribing officials is a big risk and a costly case to pursue because it will be fought tooth and nail in court.

The justice system doesn't make a step like that without having very concrete evidence of wrongdoing. The lack of real explanation by Laporta and pivoting to Tebas/Ceferin/Madrid just makes me feel that he is trying to make it blow over instead of trying to clear the club's name, maybe because he can't.
