Jordi Alba

his offensive capabilities are impressive but his defending leaves a lot to be desired. let's not forget just how porous our defense has been this season. alba is part that defense. while he has much improving to do, he's still young and talented. as he matures he may even become unplayable. certainly the best signing we've made in the past few seasons from a financial point of view.

Alba would make my top three Barcelona players of the season, what are others views on where he would rank this season?

ehhh hard to compare defensive players with offensive players. That's why it's near impossible to pick between Busquets or Iniesta in terms of who's been better this season. I'd say Alba is among the top 5 in overall consistency and continuity though. Scary to think that some people preferred Bale over him as a LB option.

With so many great players it's difficult to choose from. For me, Messi and Iniesta are definitely #1 and #2. Cesc and Alba have been less consistent (especially Cesc) but would make it to my top three/four. I am just blown away by Alba. I can't begin to describe how happy I am that we brought him. He's incredible.

True, it's hard to judge many different positions. 5 goals and 5 assist's is a great return for a full back who plays in a team who's focus is not to cross a ball from the wide areas.

1. Messi
2. Iniesta
3. Alba
4. Busquets
5. Xavi?

Still can't believe he missed out on the world 11 team behind Marcelo, madness.

Calma, calma
Messi, Iniesta, Busquets. Nobody else is close to them for me. And to think Messi hasn't even played well like his previous seasons.

Alba is severely under-appreciated and unkown outside of Barcelona. One of if not the best left back in the world yet he wouldn't crack any average EPL fan's top 10. He'll build his reputation over the course of the next few years though so I'm not worried.

Without doubt mate, noticed this for years with EPL fans and the media to. That clown Andy Townsend was slagging Diego Lopez off at the begging of the 2nd leg with United, saying how he had never tested this level. Even-though he played at that stage with Villarreal *sighs* Then after the match he was wax lyrical over him saying he's a top goalkeeper. Shouldn't get annoyed about it, but hearing this constantly from fellow Brits really annoys me.

Remember reading during Euro 2012 that Alba couldn't defend and Ashley Cole was still far better.

Know what's tedious as well, when they come up against an unknown team(to them) and get defeated they start saying sign this player etc. An example was Bilbao last year, before the game it was going to be a walkover then it was sign Munian, Herrera, Llorente etc. The majority of Premiership fans I come across act like this and take a liking for a player they've hardly watched(such as Isco) and suddenly say we must sign him and openly admit to not watching La Liga games outside Barca/Real.

United fans are the worst for it, I read redcafe for fun and they did the same with Kagawa. After he signed they watched the cup final against Bayern last year and all went wax lyrical. Went on a bit of a rank there. :(

It isn't restricted to British people, seems that anyone who fancies EPL automatically gets a skewed perception of reality. So many of my fellow Swedish friends who are EPL fans are yet unable to grasp why Busquets is playing for Barcelona now that we got Song.

 That's hilarious

Although I wouldn't go as far as to say that all EPL fans are brainless donkeys without any football knowledge. That would be as unrealistic of a view as saying that Busquets is worse than Song. The stereotypical EPL football fan who doesn't follow in depth and has a close-minded view towards a single style of football is the kind that says stupid things. Those are the kind of people who get more information from playing Fifa rather than watching football and rarely have a clue of what they are talking about. However there are a fair share of premier league fans who are willing to appreciate other styles and can grasp knowledge of football tactics and actually know what they are talking about. It's just that the average clueless uninformed football fan chooses to follow the EPL because it's the most accessible league. That's why there are more EPL idiots than there are Serie A, La liga, or Bundesliga ones.

I think it merely surprises me that a good number of these pundits who'd you think watch plenty of football would not be so narrowminded or ignorant, especially in an age where the game is more & more global - yet, it largely does
