It isn't restricted to British people, seems that anyone who fancies EPL automatically gets a skewed perception of reality. So many of my fellow Swedish friends who are EPL fans are yet unable to grasp why Busquets is playing for Barcelona now that we got Song.
Without doubt.
All over the net you see these 'EPL fanboys' who have this jealously for Spain and can't see passed the Premiership.
I've debated my times with supporters of my club who say Sergio would be average in any other team, it astounds me how naive and clueless people can be about football. Busquets is probably the most underrated footballer in the world.
In regards to these type of fans, many still stand by that Gerrard, Lampard etc were the best midfielders in the world and are better than Xavi because they 'score more'
That's hilarious
Although I wouldn't go as far as to say that all EPL fans are brainless donkeys without any football knowledge. That would be as unrealistic of a view as saying that Busquets is worse than Song. The stereotypical EPL football fan who doesn't follow in depth and has a close-minded view towards a single style of football is the kind that says stupid things. Those are the kind of people who get more information from playing Fifa rather than watching football and rarely have a clue of what they are talking about. However there are a fair share of premier league fans who are willing to appreciate other styles and can grasp knowledge of football tactics and actually know what they are talking about. It's just that the average clueless uninformed football fan chooses to follow the EPL because it's the most accessible league. That's why there are more EPL idiots than there are Serie A, La liga, or Bundesliga ones.
Can't disagree with any of that.
Although I honestly do believe that the majority of these type of fans have that view, well that's what I've experienced from numerous places especially online. You just need to look at Smile as a perfect example of this.
I think it merely surprises me that a good number of these pundits who'd you think watch plenty of football would not be so narrowminded or ignorant, especially in an age where the game is more & more global - yet, it largely does
They don't follow football outside of England.
The only games I believe they watch are during the big International tournaments and European games. Take Alan Shearer for example, he had no idea who Ben Afra was before Newcastle signed him. This was a player very highly regarded around Europe with massive potential. Some of the quotes made by Jamie Redknapp make me cringe and this guy is making lots of money as a football pundit.
Talking of these type of fans and I know it's off topic in regards to Alba, but I read a thread on Redcafe asking if there was an agenda against English clubs in Europe. To be fair many did say they didn't agree but a lot do buy into it. These fans are so one sided, they NEVER talk about the decisions that go for English teams. The myths that occur are crazy!
Chelsea vs Barcelona - Never hear about Ballack handball, Henry penalty first half. It's always about the 7001 pens denied;
Arsenal vs Barcelona - RVP second yellow, what about Messi goal wrongly chopped off in first leg? Two pens denied for handballs from Song and Arshavin? RVP should have been shown a straight red for stamp on Messi. Song had about 12 fouls in first leg;
Man United vs Real - Di Maria penalty, corner that United scored from wasn't a corner. Wrong decision to chop of Higuain's goal and the handball from Rafael.
