He's having a bad game defensively I'll give you that. Consistently speaking though he manages to get by defensively off of his pace

He was just as bad defensively in the last game against Nigeria and poor in most of the big games last season though.

Teams are actively going after him defensively.

Actually speaking they target Alves more. Obviously he's going to leave more space on his flank to attack but he does get back quickly when needed. He is more impressive defensively late in the game when opposition players are tired yet he has almost unlimited energy to sprint at them.

Teams were not targeting Alves anymore than Alba last season.

Alves is a better defender than Alba and even then his is not that great.

Having pace doesnt mean Alba can defend. He cant.

Alves has proved in the past to be a better defender than Alba, its not even a contest.

As I said I still think he is a poor defender though.

Alba's far from a great defender but Alves has been atrocious this season. There are very few people who would agree that Alves has been above Alba, as poor as both are.
