Alves is far superior than Alba in basically everything. Alba has 0 composure and hoofs the ball upfield under pressure. The difference of calmness in the backline in the few games when Abidal came back was like night and day. Alba's physical attributes match that of a 10 year old child. He's not only a midget but also a weak midget. Even his linkup play sucks. He's just "kick the ball 5 meters and run after it faster than the opponent" like Tello. And to top it off he has a terrible temper. Emery has converted him from a winger to a fullback just 2 or 3 seasons ago. We could just as well play Sanchez or Pedro as a fullback and gloat over their attacking skills.

Alves still gets hated for his shit form at the beginning of the season when he was fighting with injuries.

Yeah I agree that Alves is much-much better than Alba.

I love Alves and don't exactly understand the hate he gets , but you guys are seriously underrating Alba here.

Maybe it has something to do with his height? I'm short (169cm) and I have the same problem (playing with my friends, you know, not professionally or anything).

I've seen him make up some serious ground chasing back to defend a winger in behind him.

Alba is good when attacking but his a liability in defense. We can't forget that the guy used to always be a winger for a while even when he got to valencia.

It's really strange, with most clubs the off-season brings optimism to most fans, but with Barca is seems to be the opposite. Alba has been our best signing in a while, 14m was a bargain.

Against PSG he was carrying an injury, I remember he seemed sluggish against Lucas, but before that he was VERY good defensively and offensively. I definitely agree with the comments about his temper but you're forgetting that throughout the season he's been the best/second best (Alba the only main competitor) left back in the world, whereas Alves has been awful throughout the whole season, lazy defensively (unlike a few years back when he would be an absolute engine down the right) and ruining play after play in the front third with useless crosses and poor decision making.
