So its corrent for Bartra to cover only the area, Dani Alves to cover Gomez and leave Ribery Alone?i think the fact is that they defended tottaly wrong.And that shows how we got all year and what needs to be changed

If there are two defenders marking the box from a cross one should cover near and one covers middle and leave the back post as the lesser of the evils.

To suggest Alves drops to the back post, Bartra marks the middle and the near post is left free is so naive it is laughable.

The fact Bartra took up the near post stops Martinez tapping the ball in!

It's what people were saying after the Nigeria game. Imo, I agree with your description. His defending leaves something to be desired. Nevertheless, he is young and I'm sure he will improve a lot in the future.

The defenders are positioned just fine. Alba is facing Robben, Pique is positioned to cover him if Robben gets past him as well as being positioned to try and cut out a cross. Busi is positioned to cover the midfield runner. Bartra and Alves are doubled up on Gomez. All threats were covered. Ribery wasn't even in the picture earlier in the play, and then he just strolls into the box with no one tracking him. When Alves came in to help centrebacks, it's up to the other players in the team to see that and try to cover the space he left behind. Most likely the winger should have done that.

I really would like to know who has dared to say alba is the best left back in the world? the guy is a good player but his defensive game has always been lacking. I think he is an ok LB . sometimes he's good going forward but he is poor defending. He proved it against bayern.
