There aren't many players like Abidal out there, he's a unique player, a kind of Thuram of the left side. It actually happened that we have 2 attacking minded fullbacks and it's Alba that has performed better in this way (attacking), i already know he's not that good defensively but neither Alves is. As i said they are both attacking minded so we should firstly judge them in that way. And because Alves has been inferior he needs to be off the line up. Not to mention that he lost much of his speed. We need to have one defensive minded RB and Montoya should be the one, he just needs to be trusted in order to be improved. Playing like some games without a true stable place could be a result of not so good performances but he was good last season whenever he played. We should judge him when he gets a full season as a starter.

Montoya will get starts on both sides while Alba is out. Adriano will definitely not play starter minutes for every one of 7 games in 22 days. Alves has shown he can withstand being overplayed, but even 6 of these 7 games would be too much for anyone.

Should be fit within a week. He was injured on September 15th and was to be out for 3-4 weeks. So...

Defensively he is more sure-footed and solid than Adriano, who although has fancy footwork and has a flare for artistic goals, never provides a sense of security at the back and Alba when locked down at LB provides security.
