Jordi Alba

Alba was one of our best players last season. Which is beyond awesome, considering his price tag and the fact that it was his first season here. The criticism is ridiculous.

Barçapocalypse NOW!
To be honest, I don't see too many reason to miss him... Adriano and Montoya have been both very good at LB this season...

Sure, Alba is more attack minded, but that doesn't mean he's better than what we currently have...

Still, I hope he recovers soon, as it is always good to have him available...

This. The problem was not Alba, it was playing Alba and Alves at the same time. Hope Tata fixes this. Maybe he can try instructing them to stay back when the other is attacking.

Btw, imagine an Alba/Neymar flank once Alba's fully fit :worthy:

Honestly, I don't miss him! :D
He's great going forward but so is Adriano (who also offers long range shots). But defensively although Adriano is not great he's still better than Alba. Even Montoya did very well when he played a LB this season!

I said this before the season started. Our biggest problems defensively last season was systematic, more so than the players themselves. Everybody looks better than last season since tata has tweaked the team tactically and I don't think Alba will be the exception. And even if he was, Tata is too smart to continue starting him if he's unbalancing the team.

Why not? You cant just turn your back to one of your best performers last season while he is injured and claim he is shiet and wont be missed

I just can't understand those comments ''headless chicken, and sucks defensively'' Like Adriano is good defensively right? Or we should tottaly ignore the fact that Adriano is one of the most injury prone players in the world and with injuries comes inconsistency. Alba is an attacking minded fullback, so what can we do about it, yeah he doesn't have defensive abilities he is judged for that but because he's an attacking minded player i judge him mostly for what he offers offensively, and last season he did his part in a great way in his first season and yet he is criticized for defensive abilities which he doesn't have. He should improve them, but he should be just mostly for what kind of player is he and what does he offer mostly.

If you wanna go by that way then what Alves does defensively or Adriano? Are they better? Not really. Is it so hard to understand that only one of 2 attacking minded fullbacks should be in the line up based on their general performances and based on what they offer forward just because they are that kind of players? No. Is it hard to find a defensive football like Abidal was, tottaly. Montoya should get way more time, we can't continue with both Alves and another attacking fullback in Alba, based on their performances last season it's Alba who should maintain his place but this season he was unlucky with injuries, and try to get experience on Montoya to finally show a stable defense with someone who will stay back and defend when the other goes forward. Doesn't mean Alba shouldn't be improved in defending but you guys seem like using this as an excuse for bashing him and tottaly ignoring what he offered last season.
