I think people are being very quick to write Alba off at the moment because of a couple bad performances and his admittedly frustrating temper getting the better of him again. He is still by far our best left back and one of the best in the world. I'm not really sure where this idea has come from that Adriano is better defensively because he really isn't.

I'm not so sure anymore about Alba being one of the best LBs in the world, he's certainly in a group of elite LBs...As for the Adriano hyperbole, let's just acknowledge that there are far too many with far too little knowledge of the game nevermind our squad to take it seriously in the forum at present

Jordi's gotten better about his antics but a player like that is, unfortunately, always prone to an outburst that can cost you...He's at his best when he just works his tail off and keeps his temper in check...When a player like Robben can get you to come undone before he does?...Well, that says a lot about one's lack of self control, IMO

Danger Ahead
Jordi Alba is amazing attacker, but he loves too much to be in front of attack and then has trouble returning back. He also doesn't have height, he is only 1.70m. So we have Alba, 1.70 m., Mascherano 1.74m and Alves 1.73m, so how on earth can we defend against physical English teams that love to score headers. I am guessing Pelegrenni is now saying to his players, guys guys keep the ball in the air...

Where on earth is the love for Alba tonight?! The defender who can't defend, he's always out of position, he's a headless chicken!

...he was awesome! Very reserved and conservative performance, but extremely diciplined. This just goes to show, yet again, that it's mostly about tactics, and not the player himself. Very mature performance.

He was indeed awesome. Covered well for Alves, and had 2 or 3 clearances/interceptions too.

He was fantastic I agree. His interceptioning skills are just sublime.

He was, I usually hate on him for his half-assed defending - I guess I'll eat my words than :)
