Well we don't need WC CB though... Like Masch wasn't even a CB when we signed him, but turned out he's been on par with Puyi lately!!

We just need some one who could provide stiff competition to Pique and Masch and be ready to step up when needed, that's all. Just my way of lookin' things!!

The fact stands- We need a world-class defensive LB or CB no matter how you look at it. To me, Alba is not that.

With Abi's situation, and our club's recent stance on Botía (although rumoured), it does look like we could do with a versatile defender for next season. Like you i'm not convinced Alba is the answer. His size and defensive frailties would only augment our existing probs. He could be played as a winger, but as a barca LB, i've my reservations. He works for spain, as they 've the protection of a double pivot, and 've better average aerial terms.
I hope Muniesa impresses until the end of the season, so we stop chasing Alba, and look for a solid, athletic and versatile defender(in Abi's mold).

You can be pretty sure that Alba will be bought especially now when Abidal's health situation is uncertain.

The rumours have been constant and I am sure that Alba, as I have said on many other occasions, have the quality and versatility to play for us. Moreoever he is Catalan, culé and knows the system.

Whenever I have seen Valencia this season (or Spain) he has impressed me. Moreover he has been very solid in the defensive aspect of his game which surprised me a little considering his size and very attacking game.

Exactly..finding a WC LB is already hard, but it's even harder to buy a WC LB who can be excellent as a CB. Jordi Alba is just a better, fitter version of Adriano..Muniesa is more defensive and I hope that he will use this chance to prove to Pep that he deserves to stay with the first team.

Well, the problem with Muniesa is that he's not going to develop pace at this stage in his development - nevermind his history with injuries...He's not a Dani/Montoya/Grimaldo attacking defender either even if he knows the Barca system inside & out...He's a character guy but does he have the skill set to be the sort of 2-way player the team could benefit from?...I don't see it really...Maybe he'll be more cut out for CB but even then he's got a long line of CBs ahead of him on the depth chart...Maybe he'll surprise but it'll have to be with intangibles that he's yet to show so I'm inclined to think he's still a long way off from being a solution in the nearterm

Although Alba is good i believe there are better options for Barca from La Liga.Filipe Luis,Mathieu maybe even Aurtenetxe to name few.
