Just for some reference Wan-Bissaka (RB) went for 50 + 7 variables. Pretty close to double our deal.

Hernandez (LB, CB) went for pretty close to triple this.

Mendy (LB) went for between those two, 2.5x Firpo's deal.

Sessegnon (LB, 1 year ever in big leagues and poor metrics on a disastrous defensive team) is likely to go for around 40.

So of course time will tell about the wisdom of any of these deals but on the surface looks like a good deal for a young player with some evidence for quality and willing to deputize for one of the worlds best--possible take over in the future.

Apparently, Valverde was the one that requested him and pushed for the hardest over someone like Philip Max, etc.

The reason? despite his age, Valverde wanted him because of his La Liga experience vs someone like Max or any other LB we have been linked with since we discard Luis. Great that he pushed for him, but at the same time it came to be seen as a negative as we focus too much on "He knows the league" and that is not always a good thing to be fair as you can miss out on better options from other leagues.

But in this case, we may have lucked out as the other LB's we've been linked with behind Junior aren't exactly exciting.
