It still needs a lot more than just a bunch of individualists/mercenaries and a mediocre manager to form a top tier football team.

On paper, PSG and especially City have always been great teams since they whored themselves out to Arab money. Still, City has remained a laughing stock of the CL as they simply lack the necessary mentality and team spirit as well as tactical finesse. Generally, I think that almost all PL clubs lag behind in the tactical field.

How are they the laughing stock of the CL?! They were a non-existent team like what, 7 years ago? They have been EPL champions twice in the last 4 years and have made it to the CL knockout stages multiple times...the round of 16 the last two seasons only to be knocked out by us....nothing embarrassing there I don't think?

They have a great team, there is no doubting it. De Bruyne will only make it even better. Pellegrini is a good coach, but not a top class one. If they get De Bruyne they are only missing a WC DM to have a very dangerous squad, especially if Yaya is in form. They have been playing probably the best attacking football in England, with a coach like Pep it would be even better.

I don't see how they aren't close to being a top CL team. I mean I hate to admit it, and I hate how some rich Arab money can be just thrown repeatedly at the team with no disregard. They are only improving and they are tested all season long in the EPL. PSG just cruise through the french league without much effort all season long, so when it comes to the CL they are suddenly shocked by a massive increase in opposition quality- to me that is a huge disadvantage for them.

PSG has been more competitive in Europe than has City.

On paper, yes, as I already said. I will be very surprised if they managed to scrape into the CL semis somehow. I don't care about their domestic success. That doesn't make them a top tier team.

But surviving in such a competitive league like the EPL and managing to win titles there does say something about how good they are, doesn't it?

By the way, I thought the FPP was relaxed for City and PSG for this season only, not completely scrapped?

PSG was lucky Mourinho blew the game with his terrible tactics. Otherwise they would have been out the previous round. Either way, both of them haven't been really convincing. Like I mentioned though, City were unlucky to draw us two years in a row in round of 16.

It is just crazy. Pretty soon only the likes of City and PSG will be able to buy star players, even we can't compete at this rate.

United and Chelsea too. Soon FFP won't matter. All the money that comes into PL and uber spons dealsfor united and ulta Rick owner for Chelsea will allow them to beat transfer records.

United and Chelsea will always be on the similar level as Barca and Real financially whereas City can afford to blow everyone out of the water. Football has now grown enough dilute the influence of billionaires like Roman with clubs themselves approaching revenues of $1 billion but City are a different story because net worth of Seikh Mansour and his family is probably around 1 trillion..

I think City will struggle in the long run. They don't have the prestige of United and who wants to go and live in Manchester when you could live in London, Paris or Madrid anyway?

Yup probably even winning a treble every year wouldn't be enough to compete with them financially.

It is in a way but on the other hand it makes them far fresher for those matches without having loads of energy after an easy run in the league
