Kevin De Bruyne

Spent 140m on the wrong midfielder.

Add 100m on top of that and even that probably wouldn't be enough.

Not to forget how tough it would be to convince De Bruyne to leave the perfect manager for him to a team that plays slow, sterile possession based football with an average manager.

Not really. City players are virtually unattainable. They are like PSG but players value the PL on top of that. Only "big" player of City who kinda was on the market is Sané and it is due to him running his contract down and the guy is not even a starter.

maybe he meant when KDB was still at Wolfsburg. The guy could made Bas Dost look like Henry.

He did say that you spent 140 M on the wrong midfielder. At Wolfsburg he was worth half that.

Yeah, it is a waste of time to talk about City players unless they run down their contract like Sané and are not happy because of their playing time.

Imo, this club is the ultimate fortress as they don't need money and they have the appeal of PL for players. Even if they fail in CL seasons after seasons like PSG, their seasons are not seen as failures from players and outsiders.

His first half today was pure class.
Use him as a midfielder and he is the assistking.
Move him up to the frontline and he is the striker.

Should make an inquiry at the very least if he becomes available this summer. He turns 29 in a few months and I doubt he wants to waste two of the last few prime years of his career wasting away on a team that cannot play in the CL. He has never won a European competition before and I suspect he will press City to let him go if their ban is upheld.

Agreed. Even though I usually don't want players approaching their 30s, the class in certain players is just simply too much...best attacking midfield option by a mile to get in world football right now. Just imagine KDB-FDJ-Arthur. :worthy:

De Bruyne is amazing, one of my favorite players. But i don't see any way he'll join Barca. CL ban or not City still doesn't need money so they won't let any important player leave cheap.

Maybe in a parallel universe where Barca didn't blow 400M on Coutinho, Dembele and Griezmann.

So all of a sudden people complaining about 100m transfers would be willing to pay that much for a 29yo De Bruyne (when at the same time also complaining some of our players similar age are already semi-retired and we should replace them )? He's a great player no doubt but I'd prefer to look for our own younger (and cheaper) version of De Bruyne who can grow up with a rebuilding team (after we finally decide to do what we should) and become one of our next key players/stars in a few years. Who knows, maybe we might already have that in Pedri.

You say City doesn't need money, but if they miss out on CL revenue for 2 years that could be 150 million per season in their budget gone. Plus, there will probably be Premier League sanctions too
