Kevin-Prince Boateng

According to Cat Radio, it seems the coaching staff isn't impressed with him in training.

What an enormous shocker. The old man with bad knees who was brought in to play a position he absolutely does not play is failing to impress the coaching staff.

Insert Captain Kirk surprised meme here.

Hilarious to see Mascaró write an opinion column that complains about pretty much the exact same things that I have been complaining about just days prior to his piece, lol. At least not all of the local journalists are blind. Looking at the MD lot here.

This part is the most weird thing. "Está claro que ni Murillo ni Boateng cuentan para el entrenador." I mean I can understand Murillo not playing much since he was always the 4th choice (even 5th now with Todibo).

But with Boateng, has the board consulted EV about the loan signing of Boateng? It doesn't make sense to loan sign a player who the manager is not even going to use, even for rotation. Or has Boateng only been signed to play only if Suarez and Messi gets injured/suspended? I think the latter is the most likely seeing how Malcom mostly plays in La Liga/CL games when either Messi and Dembele are injured, which is pathetic tbh.

It is a loan with a purchase option. He was just a replacement for Munir--emergency filler, anything produced from him, in any match, is a bonus.

I think this is it. He would only play if Messi, Suarez, Dembele, Coutinho and Malcom are not available for the 3 forward spots (even Roberto in a spot can be right wing--of course than we have no depth at FB), or it is an inconsequential match/minutes.

I'd rather spend 2m and have a little bit more insurance to survive a period if say Suarez + Dembele were not available through injury or suspension.

"Insurance"? Boateng is an old man with bad knees who plays as a midfielder. There's a reason he's stinking up the place in training. He doesn't provide anything Mujica for example wouldn't. Hell, I'm pretty sure Pique would do the job better than him.

The dude thinks Rakitic is an integral part of our midfield. Save your breath

I'd still rather have him in an emergency than a young guy not dominating in 3rd tier Spanish football. Best case he is 2mil we never had to use. Remember it all came about because we sent Munir away, I assume more for the locker room than anything. KPB and Murillo are loans with no obligation to buy and IF everything pans out they won't play again for Barca. But if we have a big run of bad injury luck or suspensions, at least there is some experience and guys who have played top flight.

Yeah like he isn't an integral part of our midfield, how delusional is that. Like him or not, whether you view it as successful or not as a midfield, of course he has been integral to our midfield and WILL BE at least to the end of this season. After Busi he is going to play the most minutes of our midfielders the rest of the year. If you don't know that, you don't know much.

You aren't BBZ's second account are you? The similar insane levels of hate for young layers is uncanny.

Yes let's have a pensioner with blown knees over a youngster. Let's close down La Masia while we're at it.

No connection to BBZ, but we have a saying the most popular guy on monday is the back-up quarterback. Fans most always think the guys on the bench (or available as free agents) are better, until these guys actually have to play against real opponents.

La Masia should of course continue, if you get one 50 mil player every few years you have done you club well, and done right by a lot of young families who had opps they otherwise wouldn't.

But having a youth academy being the driver of the worlds best football team, with the idea you only need to selectively pick a few spots around it--that is probably never again going to happen like one streak La Masia had with Puyol-Xavi-Inietsa-Messi-Pique-Busi. All world class, many generational players. However now there are over 20 well financed clubs trying to identify and groom these guys--totally different world of scouts, money, competition, and impatient players who get picked off by other clubs if they don't think they are fast tracked enough.

However La Masia players should have to earn 1st team minutes like anyone else, but smashing all lower levels of competitions, holding their own at practices against the best of the best, and leaving little doubt of the potential as a world class footballer if not already there. 95% should be known about where they are at before they step foot on the pitch in a meaningful match for Barca.
