Of course and I don't disagree with you but my initial points remain the same. He was not used. Once again. Which is a problem.
Let us not forget that those 3+ weeks and this month will be our most busy time until the end of the season. If anything he should have been used nowadays as he won't be used when the league and CL will be decided unless Suárez is injured or suspended. Yet he is not used at all. Quite a contradiction.

When we have an incompetent coach, what else can be expected. Seniors continue to pick themselves.. In another page someone had posted minutes played so far this season. and Pique`s number 1 on that list despite everyone`s feeling that Rakitic always gets picked. Come on now, there is no reason why Pique should play so much when there are sufficient number of CB`s in our squad and its not like Pique is playing great every game either. Plus we went and got Murillo who has experience with European football.. Yet there he is, yet another of those vacation players...

You could also see it the other way..Did suarez change the game in anyway other than playing as a very good defender for Athletic killing every one of our attacks in the process? I think it would`ve probably been just as worse on the worst case and Suarez would have atleast got some rest.

Been saying the same thing since foerever. It all goes back to the spineless board that is not ruthless enough in its dealings and does not know when or how to say goodbye to seniors in the team and unaware that giving almost every single one of those seniors long contract extensions and pay rises is like shooting yourself in the foot. This mediocrity in terms of the business and sporting side of how to manage a club is also evident in the managerial choice. Malmierda in other words. Another yes-man that has zero guts to do what is right whenever the seniors are underperforming or need a rest. He wanted a CB and a striker but who the hell knows if Murillo or KPB were even "his choices" to begin with? It's just a mess from top to bottom.

Even our entire football philosophy nowadays is to look for Messi nonstop and sit back and wait for him to create some magic. Zero tactical innovation, zero tactical consistency (other than mediocre performances that is) and a toothless and lifeless coach in Malmierda who has the same expression regardless of what occurs most of the time. Which obviously suits the seniors who are running the dressing room and want the same Malmierda to continue for obvious reasons.

The same way how Lucho was pushed out by the same seniors for wanting to (reportedly) to sell some of them, in particular the likes of Piqué and Rakitic.

Football philosophy aside, how I would wish that a 10-15 years younger Mourinho was out there so he could clean this dressing room up and make the necessary sporting decisions that spineless cowards like Malmierda won't dare to make or the likewise spineless Bartofeo.

I mean we all knew he would be quite useless as a Suarez sub. Will probably get a start here and there ahead of a CL game or so but besides that i don't really see Ernie playing him.

Strange that all of those users who "praised" this supposedly "good" move are nowhere to be found.

This guy is a meme just like Douglas.

But, but supposedly he is an "alpha" so everything is great. The thing is, Douglas was a great mascot that gave us plenty of luck. Ensured us a triplete and a doblete in the 2 seasons that he was here. KPB has a lot of work to do to improve this accomplishment.

But of course they are. They will literally get on their knees and blow each and every signing the board makes without the slightest bit of critical thinking (Unless it's a player who isn't objectively trash, then they want to argue). Even Douglas had people here trying to defend him. It's sheer lunacy.

It doesn't make even the tiniest shred of sense to sign a midfielder who will be turning 32 soon as a backup to our 32 year old striker. But you hear so much bullshit from these board and Valverde apologists trying to defend it that you'd think they made the call to bring him in themselves

Yeah, he was only brought on loan but it was just so pointless to bring him in at all and is a huge indicator of how incompetent our sporting project is.

When I first read the rumors of us being close to signing him I was drinking a nice cappuccino on my way to work and almost spit half of it out in sheer bafflement. I could not believe my own eyes. Once home again I had to rant here (as can be seen) and to my great surprise I was in the minority as users were praising him left and right. Hilarious stuff. I was called insane for thinking that Morata on a loan with reasonable wages would be a better option. Turned out that Atlético's deal with Chelsea was even more favorable than even I could imagine. Of course Morata has not set the world on fire for Atlético yet but can any sane person say that he would be a worse choice? At least he would have forced Valverde to rest Suárez more given Morata's reputation and him being Spanish. Instead we got this dude who I predict will not play even 300 minutes (less than 4 full games) in what is left of the season and that is an optimistic estimation even. Insane stuff, really.

Did Morata want to come here and would he have accepted 1/4 starts? If it is yes and yes than that would have been much better.

So now he's an old man who plays as a midfielder who was signed to be our backup striker... who also has bad knees.

You can't make this up.

So we got him simply of his perceived "tough" characters?

2m is still a LOT of money that could have been better spent elsewhere.
