Koke

I would rather have us buy Gundogan. Him & Busquets would allow us to play a double pivot without sacrificing our possession game.

His history with injuries is a risk, but that means that we can get him for around half what we would pay for Koke. So if we sell Cesc for 45-50 and buy Gundogan for 25-40, we will still be making a decent profit, and assuming that Xavi stays then even if Gundogan flops/gets injured we will still have a more than decent backup.

Gundogan extended his contract. He can only be got next year when the transfer ban hits and we will watch him go to Madrid/Bayern/City

The contract extension actually matters little for 2 reasons:

1) Since it's only a 1 year extension BvB will still be in the same situation a year from now had he not extended: either sell or risk seeing him go for free. But more importantly, this is hardly a commitment on the part of Gundogan. Maybe it was BvB who didn't want to extend it even further, but I doubt that if Gundogan wanted a long term contract he wouldn't have gotten one.

2) Still the fact that he extended would presumably give Bvb added leverage for this season. The reason that's not the case has to do with his injury. Neuer was sold to Bayern for 22m in 2011, even though he had 1 year left on his contract. So if Gundogan recovers and performs well, his price will not differ materially from where it is now and may in fact increase.

So if the management is actually interested in Gundogan then buying him this season makes more sense. His injury is still a risk, but there's also a risk that he may extend his contract even further thereby inflating his price. Besides if we sell Cesc, and reduce Xavi's playing time the we'll need an XI CM and Gundogan is not only a quality player and an ideal fit for us; he's also a realistic and relatively cheap target.

He should be starting the next game.

Bench Alonso for Javi Martinez, and put Villa in place of Silva.

That would be the best option at this point IMO.

What do you mean without tax? so you gotta pay take too? isn't it automatically deducted from the fee... In the Pl, if a player is bought, the tax comes out during the transaction. If I buy something for £10, the vat is 25%, so government get £2.50.

60m is quite a bit. 48m.

If you think you can get Koke, a CB and a 2nd GK, then do it!!!!! Would love Koke at Barca

The tax is from triggering the buy out clause. If the fee is agreed normally, the tax comes out of the transfer fee. However, per Spains buy out clause rules, the buy out fee must be payed by the player to his original team, in essence buying himself out, then signing with his new team. In this case, the player must pay taxes for that buy out transaction. I believe the tax is15% of the fee?, so around €9m more.

Well Atlético doesn't play in the EPL. It's been discussed numerous times before, if a club wants to activate the buy-out clause from a player playing for a Spanish club the sum of the clause, in Koke's case €60M, has to be paid by the player himself, in this case Koke. So let's say Barça wants to activate the clause, they first have to give Koke the 60M to Koke in order for him to buy-out his contract at Atlético but Barça has to pay taxes on top of that 60 if they give it to Koke so the total amount of the transfer would be 60M+

IMO Barca is going to push really hard for Koke. Xavi leaving gives me more hope that they'll go to any length in signing Koke. Still is a very long shot, but now maybe a better shot.

They could maneuver under the buyout fee to avoid taxes by including Tello in the deal. Atleti has expressed interest in Tello.

 Better this way. Twice for confirmation :)
