He’s always been levels above Haaland but it’s been known since day dot that he’s going to Madrid so never bothered getting my hopes up over a transfer.

Purely in terms of impact to the game, I think he might have just overtaken Salah recently. (though Salah clearly plays in a much better & coherent team - so I mean individually)
When it comes to coming clutch, Benzema is still ahead of him, though there are also a lot of things he offers that this 34-year-old version of Benzema no longer can.
(Be it footwork, speed, strength et al)

Heck, he has even improved his finishing, heading and even control at tight spaces (guess he has Messi to thank for that). One good thing I have noticed about him is that he is very open to learning & improving, getting bits and pieces from every great player he plays along.
