Dropping a 13 point lead down to nothing(if it happens) is bottling, by definition.

Not sure about that. Losing a 13 point lead is not good obviously, but bottling - for me - implies some sort of mental breakdown. Atletico lacks quality first and foremost. Its not like they should have gotten more points recently - they should have lost a few more to be honest (eg Alaves). And they should have never gotten the points the got in the first half.

Sure, Pep would have won trebles with that team and that budget.

Pep wouldnt play in the same way like simeone did. I dont understand this man, you clearly saw in the last 15 minutes that Atletico could play offensive and create chances if they have to do it. But uncle simeone tries to defend a 0-0 and hope that his team will score a lucky goal. He does it since over 10 years and he only won one title which is even a farce as Messi's goal in the final match wasnt offside.

Atletico have arguably the worlds best goalkeeper. A solid set of defenders, decent midfielders and good forward options. Most of their starting xi would fetch decent sums in the transfer market. They've also got some decent bench options. Don't think it's fair to say they lack quality. Sure they don't have a Messi or Modric/Kroos/Ramos but good enough.

Also it surely has to be considered bottling. For instance, us beating Liverpool 3-0 was overachieving, but losing 4-0 in the return leg was still the ultimate bottling.

Great example from the great Rory !

People can say what they want, if Atletico bottle it, they will go down as the biggest bottle team in the history of bottle la liga.

No matter how you look at it, losing a 13 point drop is a bottling, there is no other way around it.

You cant go "b...but Atletico are still a small club!" anymore, they have a decent squad, with a high profile manager, and then you have to consider that Barcelona had a terrible first half, RM having injuries upon injuries.

This is turning out to be the bottlejob of the ages.

I wouldnt argue with player quality, but their actual performances as a team. Uninspired and slow. Grinding out results more than anything. And they have done so since the start of the season. Their winning team in 13/14 was much, much better despite a similar game plan. Bottling - like mentality - is thrown around too much in football (or any other sport).

To our game vs Liverpool: we surely should have scored vs Liverpool (we had the chances), but I still have a hard time calling it (purely) bottling. The lack of quality was apparent. There is nuance.

Of course there's nuance in it like most things and agree we should have scored vs Liverpool away. Did those chances not get converted due to bottling? Who knows. I think bottling is a result of the nuance of a game/season not the cause if you get what I mean. For example if you play amazingly well, do all the right things but don't win = you've bottled it.

Equally, if you play terribly when you shouldn't = bottled it. Maybe it just means different things to different people hence the disagreement.

Remaining fixtures (highlighted from toughest to easiest (red - tough, green - easy, yellow - inbetween))

Barca

Valladolid (H)
Real (A)
Getafe (H)
Villareal (A)
Granada (H)
Valencia (A)
Atletico (H)
Levante (A)
Celta (H)
Eibar (A)

Atletico

Betis (A)
Eibar (H)
Huesca (H)
Athletic (A)
Elche (A)
Barca (A)
Real Sociedad (H)
Osasuna (H)
Valladolid (A)

Real

Barca (H)
Getafe (A)
Cadiz (A)
Betis (H)
Osasuna (H)
Sevilla (H)
Granada (A)
Athletic (A)
Villareal (H)

I think all 3 teams have somewhat similar schedule and whoever will keep the good form till the end of the season will win the title.

You overrate Getafe or what?
They should be a 'green' one for everyone

Further corrections:
- Barca: Red only Atleti and RM, Yellow for Villareal, Valencia, and Levante

- Atleti: Betis a yellow, Elche green, Sociedad a red

- RM: Getafe green (lol they are their 'parent club'), Cadiz a yellow def (even a red possibly), Betis yellow, Granada green.

Then IMO it's Barca: 2 Red and 3 Yellows
Atleti: 2 Reds and 2 Yellows
RM: 3 Reds and 3 Yellows

RM has the toughest schedule, but it is crammed towards the end.

We are in the best form. If we win Clasico, and we are above, on par, or 1-2 points behind Atleti by the time we play them, w
we are winning this

I would say Betis is a red for ATM as ATM won't be able to field Suarez and Llorente due to suspension

Yeah, probably I overestimated Getafe for RM, but I remember us always struggle against them lately.
Even with your numbers, it's still seems like an equal race.
If our form will be the same as before NT break, we will make it.

Celta 3-0 up against Alaves after 20 minutes.

Abelardo not doing well since his return to Alaves.

And he's gone.
