south american talent goes to EPL or other exotic places where they get tons of cash. for example a forlan or riquelme would have made money in china instead of finishing their careers at the top in villareal.

many la liga teams had interesting players from south america. now not so much.

Yeah the money is huge reason but the exposure world wide, the standard throughout the league in comparison to others, the stadiums, atmospheres and it being a league still growing in quality and entertainment while others like La Liga is declining.

England have started to produce a lot of quality players through academies as well. Another area that Spain is lacking in partly due to players being produced and how long clubs can keep them.
