Wait, are we not supposed to look at total amount of caps? Really?
They are pretty close on that, looking at it summed up.

Xavi far better longevity :lol::lol:

You can add up all of Modric's club caps over the course of his entire career and they alone don't add up to Xavi's Barca first teams caps.

Xavi had far better longevity. Not even debatable.

Nah, not always.
You can reasonably argue Atleti had a better team in 2014 and 2016 CL finals for example

Well, those are two massive lucky wins by Madrid. 1-1 would've been more fair. Those finals are hardly sign of Atletico bottling it or failing to show up vs Madrid. In 1 Madrid equalized in stoppage time from a corner, and the other they won in pens after they scored from offside in regular time and Atletico missed a pen.

In 2014 Madrid were top. Came in the final after smashing Bayern 5-0 aggregate.

They routinely make things easier for us. 1 league win since 2016, 1 vs depressed Real after Zidane departure in European Supercup and 1 meaningless one in CL semi. Every other match was them doing standard 'play for draw and hope they give us a win'

In previous four La Liga seasons it looks in the league Real have won 3 and drawn 5 v Atletic and Barca have won 4 and drawn 4.

They have not been making things routinely easier for Real really. Lot of tight games for most part.

But is it an accident that they always fail against RM when it's an important game, irrespective of whether they are actually better that year?

Considering Casillas had a rather big mistake for Atletico`s goal in 2014, one could well say they were lucky in that game.

Point taken. So, like I said, 1-1 was more fair distribution. Madrid winning in 2014, Atletico winning in 2016. 2016 was very lucky by Madrid. I hope you'll admit that.

You guys even had less possession than a Simeone side IIRC, which was astonishing.

Barca have better record in league v Atleti than Real across past four seasons previous to this.

Important games it's the other way round. We succumb to them in CL knock-out matches.

No comparison between our record against them, and their record against RM

I think Madrid have better mentality and in the big games this shows. But I don't think Atletico play worse vs Madrid than vs Barca on average. They have the same gameplan. You will probably beat them based on the superior players you have if you get your tactics spot on and you work nearly as hard as them. If you do what Barca did, which is have a keeper go Rambo style looking for the ball near the halfway line and Pique getting cutesy with the ball even though he sprints as if he has the newest Nike boots made of lead...

League games are important.

What is this based on two CL ties from past 4 seasons? Both were fairly tight.

Real won 4 out of 5 CLs and were beating everyone not just Atleti.

Barca were failing miserably in CL against all team too often not just Atleti.

It is more about that than Atleti raising game v Barca and folding v Real in CL. It follows patterns of both Real an Barca v everyone virtually.

In league Barca have better record in past 4 seasons as well... which also follows the league form more.

Atletico will totally blow this early momentum they have in the league.

They look so fragile against confident opposition. Real Madrid and Bayern completely dismantled them.

Doesn't come off as a side that can ride the momentum for too long.
