Arsenal are planning to spend big this summer to be a serious competor in England again and selling Koscielny is the exact opposite of that.

They aren't spending big but you right be difficult to get him for less than 22-25.

He has a contract until 2017 and won't leave Arsenal this summer. Koscielny's the perfect defender though, he's ridiculously quick, excellent reader of the game, sound in the air, etc.

Wasn't the same thing said every June in the last decade?

the only thing is this time the stadium payments are more or less almost done and the the new revenue from new deals make them almost on par with bayern and us in terms of spending. As of next season they are exspected to turn over £400mil+ which is a big jump from £200mil+ this year. So i dont think Arsenal will sell the big performers anymore in fact they are letting go of deadwood to make space

how can they double their turnover in one year?

They have signed a few more sponsors (4 or 5 looking to go to 10 new ones), the new shirt deal and the new deal with they current shirt sponsor. My bro said they have busy drumming up deals in india, malaysia, indonisia etc. You already know arsenal is not run like a football club but like a corporate business trying to maximize profits

A lot of people are massively underrating Koscielny, lumping him together with the bad reputation we earned by having the likes of Senderos, Almunia, Silvestre, Squillaci, etc. Those who have seen his stats, realize that he's improving every year and is close to being world class. The first half of the season when he was injured/on the bench, we had a terrible record with the Vermaelen-Mertesacker partnership and were sat closer to relegation than the top 4.

When Kosc started playing, we suddenly had the least goals conceded in the premier league and climbed up to 4th by scraping 1 nil wins... most of which involved Kosc saving our asses with a last second tackle or interception. When Mertesacker would go forward, Kosc would cover for him, and when he saw the opportunity he would always try to start offensive moves. Another thing people don't know, is that he's one of our fastest players, only edged out by Theo and Ryo.

EDIT: took me a while to find a decent compilation without ear-bleedingly horrible music (skip to 1:10 to avoid the bullshit intro)

In my opinion he is the best option for us after Thiago Silva. All the things you guys said are true, plus I think that Premier League experience is very valuable epecially for defenders as the games are hardly ever one-sided there and defenders are much more involved in the game than in other leagues.

Haven't watched much of Arsenal these past few years but he must have improved a lot since I saw him last.

I'm sure that we can have this player for 22/25m euros. Zubi should really go for it, he is exactly what we need (Song and Cesc will convince him to join us).

Not Silva but very good in his own right.

just tired of buying from Arsenal and even more tired that no one seems to want a non-trendy players at Barca which means high price and often, unrealistic expectations to boot.
