Lionel Messi - v7

You're so funny.

You were crying and begging him to stay 2 months ago. I was actually for the idea of us selling or letting him go for free. Even if he left for nothing, we could have tried a different gameplan and saved a lot on his salary. We basically could have started our rebuild. But..... no, you were backing Bartomeu and saying how Messi should stay to carry us this season. I knew Messi wouldn't look bothered and putting him decent performances half the time. I'm pretty certain Messi will still score goals, despite him not looking like scoring at the moment, because he's still a quality player. But we could have moved on and tried something else this season.

No doubt, if he picks up his form and performances, you'll be back to calling him the goat again.

If he picks up form and improves his performances I'll be happy yeah

If this was 29 years old Messi, I'd see it as a dip he'll get over, and have one last push for glory. But this is 33.5 year old Messi and some of the things he needs to get better he will never get back. That ship has sailed.

Not really. If you show up incredibly crap in defense, nearly any side in PL has enough firepower up front to score you at least 3-4. Yea, even 7 if you're defense could star in a Looney Tunes episode and every deflection goes their way like in your worst nightmare.

PL is an incredibly physical league based on power and speed. Right now we'd suffer a lot in it. In 2011 when we were strong, had crazy stamina, ran like crazy, pressed teams to death, we'd humiliate everyone in it including Liverpool. I think current City would be among our favorite victims . Peak Messi and Iniesta would have a field day with that defense.

You can say that about every league or team. If a team doesn't show up, you can lose to any team comfortably. That doesn't make the Premier League any better. The point I'm making is... it isn't the first time that a Premier League team has been exposed this season. Teams are conceding goals left, right and center in that league. I'm just saying, despite how bad we are, we're not conceding 5 to Leicester or 7 to Aston Villa. It's always been an overrated league.

Yup, even if he picks up whatever and wins us a treble this season I'd still say he should leave next summer.

A new chapter needs to be turned.

Yea, it is spot on. Which is why it's vital for the club to adopt a position in relation to Messi to match his lower interest in football in general. Extension only on the table with much reduced role and much reduced wages. Or each goes it's own way, Messi to somewhere else, and Barca towards full post-Messi era of rebuilding.

It's not just about showing up, I genuinely think Barcelona doesn't have the personnel to fight in the PL. Not because the teams are "better", but because physically speaking, we are not that good. The midfield is also really weak. It's a league that relies a lot on speed and power, and honestly Barcelona is not equipped to fight against that. We were, but not anymore. I don't think Bayern are so much better than the top teams in the PL, I don't think they're much better at all. They're comparable in quality. The view is just distorted because of their results against us, but i assure you Chelsea/Liverpool/Spurs/Utd would enjoy playing against us. I am not saying they'd score 8, but they would definitely have a field day with our midfield and lack of speed upfront.

We conceded 8 to the best team in the world. Spurs conceded 7 against them.... at home! Yes, it's shocking.... but it's nowhere near as bad as conceding 7 against Aston Villa. Come on now!

And when was the last time Liverpool conceded more than 3 goals before Villa with not kids playing (5-0 against Villa in the cup does not count for that reason)? Any team can have a bad day. We were being demolished 5-1 by Levante until we made it 5-4.

Most would choose neither. I'd rather go with likes of Salah, Mane, Gnabry etc. Fast skilled players who are still hungry to win.

No I'd still take Ronaldo and Messi over.those bums.

They're all system players

Only ones that look the real deal atm are Mbappe, Haaland

And what's wrong in being system players? It's more of a quality to place yourself at a disposal of a great manager than demand the game to be made around you.
