Lionel Messi - v7

I don't know what do you all expect? He badly wanted to leave and they forced him to stay. Unfortunately he will be abysmal this entire season.

We expect him to be professional and start accepting his limitations as he is 33 years old. Rest more. Show a little extra for games like RM.

Before you say we owe him. No we don't. We gave him both great and bad teams (the roster surrounding him from 08-15 was one of the best ever while the roster surrounding him 17-20 is piss poor so it evens out). We also pay him 100M a year.

People seriously need to stop expecting him to perform like he did 2 seasons ago. He is almost 34y old.

The club is weak. Nobody has the balls to admit it. It's like The Emperor's New Clothes. We could actually use that to see who has what it takes to be the next president. The President that is ready to not extent Messi is the one we need.

Unfortunately, too many are in denial. Nobody will win elections if they don't hug Messi's balls and try to extend him.

I am still hoping for Messi to save his legacy. Just do what Xavi and Iniesta did. It's time. No shame in moving to secure a more relaxed time at the end of your career.

I am sure he will do that next summer. Let's be fair he already wanted to leave this summer.

We definitely owe him a huge respect for everything he did for this club. We all know that you need a good teammates and manager to able to win. FFS he basically took us alone to CL semis two seasons ago and that team was horrible in many aspects.

So far not one candidates has expressed that they will not try to keep Messi and understandably so, and I doubt the new president, whoever he is, will not his best to keep him.

Our best hope lies with Messi staying firm and saying no to them and just walking away.

People seriously need to stop expecting him to perform like he did few seasons ago. He is almost 34y old. His end is near. He probably has 2 more seasons in him but he for sure won't be decisive as he was. FFS he is playing more for than 15y on the highest level. It's perfectly normal he is declining.

I totally agree

QSG would be the smartest move IMO. Serie A also but CR7 is already at Juve and I doubt he wants the dumpster fire that is Inter.

That will be great for everyone. It's clear he still looks at himself as the main man, the one the play must be orchestrated around. If some other club can give him that, fair enough. Barca can't do it anymore at this stage.

In politics there's also the approach where you promise to so something only to get elected, then do what you really want to do once you are in office. But I don't see anyone with balls in the candidates. Xavi (no it's not an error) and washed up Laporta don't fill me with joy.

Messi needs to go before Xavi comes. There's not a chance Xavi would bench/axe him. Too much history together.

Xavi knows this too which is why he didn't touch the current Barca.

I thought he had a good first half and was even chasing down the madrid defence, provided a great ball for Alba which lead to the goal. Defensive errors were the culprits today and Koeman not bringing on fresh legs. Didn't give enough in the second half and would have been good to be subbed out at 70th min. Koeman didn't sub anyone out until the 80th min though which was genius

I don't think the PL is better than La Liga, but I do think the OVERALL PACE of the PL is "better." In the sense they rely more on physicality and speed than other leagues do, and I don't have stats for this, but through the eye test the games are genuinely more fast paced than la liga or serie a matches. Players from La Liga or France keep saying the same (PL being fast paced) so I don't think it's far from the truth.

Considering Messi's decline in physical ability, I do think he'd have a harder time in the PL than he does in La Liga. Prime Messi? Not even close. This Messi and the 'walking dropping deep but still scores tons of goals" Messi of the last 3 years? Yeah, they'd struggle. I'm not overrating the league it's just what I see with my own eyes.
