Lionel Messi - v7

 That's because his position is wrong, or better yet, he doesn't have one because he does what he wants. If you chase the ball, every player will pass you the ball if you are Messi. Normally, not all players should have Messi as a pass option. At least not in crap positions. Well, that happens constantly. I think every player is passing to Messi simply because Messi is chasing the ball to be passed to.

If he doesn't have a position, his position can't be wrong.

Joking aside, he can't play like this anymore. He needs to start believing in his teammates. Even if some of them are bellow required level he needs to stop drifting into their position.

I was shocked when I saw myself thinking of him getting a red card so we can play without him. He has literally played all the matches this season (and he's 33.5, even the commentators don't understand what's happening)

This is crazy to me too. :Lad is almost 34. It's ridiculous because he's not some super athlete like Lebron or even CR7.

Pedri - De Jong - Pjanic is a very good midfield 3.

For the rest of this season, yeah that trio is probably the best option. Beyond this season, idk. De Jong is good, but in a bit of a rut with his role on this team. Pjanic is okay. Depends a lot on Pedris growth.

If he keeps playing like that, let's hope he leaves in January and the new board lets him

There is no chance he will leave in January. For starters the election will probably not take place until after January window and second, the new president will not let him go, or at least he will try his best to be perceived to be trying his best to keep Messi. The only way will be Messi telling them to fuck off and he is leaving.

I think he should contemplate retiring or going to some lesser exotic league. Iniesta and Xavi weren't both 34 when they went to Qatar and Japan?

Simply did a solid by offering to leave. 100 millions wages saved plus a neat 80 100m from city.rat face wanted to continue his rampage on us before leaving

You are indeed deluded.
Fati, Dembele, Pedri, Pjanic as he played today, Dest, were all creative.
Creative with a higher success rate than Messi all of them, and with sticking to positions and tactical instuctions.

It's not paying as 'others on this forum want', it's that these people are not biased when it comes to Messi..

Please...

Son, you need to understand that success rate doesn't stay the same as number of attempts increase. It often decreases.

Imagine thinking giving Dembele more of the ball will bring more success given his history of brain dead decision making. Utter delusion

You went too far here. Messi can still play really well, even his 2019 level, in Serie A. La Liga is just too fast now and imo maybe just a hair below EPL. It's crazy how underrated our league is.

I recommend you go watch some Serie A matches. It's like half the pace of la liga. He would do amazing there. No wonder we schooled Juve

Yea, what's the point? Going to Serie A for what? I don't see the endgame here. He's out for Ballon d'Or for good. His World Cup will be nothing of worth. I think he's done more than enough and is unable to extend his legacy in any way.

Going to Premier League could make him look incredibly washed up and I wouldn't want him turned into meme material. It's a risk that could backfire badly. And going to a one team league like Ligue 1 would be seen as a chicken move.

Another problem is that Messi and Griezmann are entering each others space. They are the worst possible partners in attack.

Messi had a decent game. (6+ : 4,5 the first half, 7,5 the second).
Barca miss his ability to finish (he'll come back when he mentally unlocks), but the main problem for Koeman is being able to put together a team that is a strange mash up of veterans and very young talent. Not easy. It will be a transition year in which we will have to be good at capitalizing as much as possible and maintaining cohesion
