Lionel Messi - v7

I mean, yes it was a foul before but it was long before the goal and they also played the ball back into the midfield. If someone scores of a corner thats wrongly given then VAR doesn't interfere, there is no consistency here and you should add new parameters. For example a certain amount of contacts or time when the VAR can't interfere anymore. Or take a goal back after a wrong corner. They even sped the replay up for the ref, shame.

Nice "goal" and a good free-kick attempt. Not his best game, lost the ball a lot when he shouldn't. Argentina all over the place as usual, absolutely no cohesion or plan when attacking.

So bad, he wants to play like Xavi but he is nothing like Xavi never was never Will be, doesnt has xavis intelligence...he is not playing with his strenghts at all...loses more balls than any player

VAR needs to be abolished. Brings way more retardation and frustration, which isn't outweighed by the errors it fixes. No way you go back 2 minutes and 20 passes to chalk off a goal. And it's not like ref didn't see the foul initially, he just allowed it, but some annoying agenda driven vartard just had an axe to grind.

It might actually work for the following reason:

PSG plays with 3 attackers staying up top and 7 retreating, especially in big games. They tried to do that vs Bayern in the final.
Messi will essentially take the place of Di Maria. Creativity-wise PSG will not lose anything, they will gain.

Then Mpabe has lightning speed, which Suarez did not have, and can provide a point for Messi to direct through balls in space.

Of course Di Maria defends and tracks back more,
but Ligue 1 is a farmers' league and 90% of the time Messi will not need to do that.

You clearly didn't watch PSG vs Bayern, cause all PSG players tracked back in that game. Even Neymar was constantly tracking back. Their main problem that day was poor finishing (Mbappe missed many clear chances, and Neymar missed a few). But they all tracked back and you could see Neymar really involved in the game cause he wanted the win

It won?t work because Neymar doesn?t track back like that again except in very big matches and if you add Messi to that mix, that?s one funny looking team with gapping holes

Lol this argentinia is sooo bad. They were strong in 2019 but somehow they become trash again. Messi was better in second half but he cant do all by himself anymore.

He's not trying to play like xavi he just drops deep to get more touches. The balls he loses are from trying to be creative or from dribbling. Its really only a thing that's happening the last few months and only happened in this game after his goal was disallowed. He tried too hard to make up for it.
