Yes the club is contractually obligated to pay him that absurd loyalty bonus. Does he deserve it? It is an entirely different question. Let's be honest, this is such a shitty clause, shame on Messi and his reps for having something like this with the club. That is not to say it is not the club's fault to have something like this in the first place, I don't think any other club had anything like this. We allowed players to take advantage of us.

Messi fleeced the club. He is in a power position and is using it to milk us dry. Been doing that for a few years. The board got the club in a terrible position by giving in to every demand from Messi camp. Because they had no other plan. They even faked trying to sign Neymar to please him.

But see how much better was for the team when not everyone was playing for Messi (like in 2019 which ended in failure), but when there was distribution of roles and balance (2011 and 2015)

WTF? How is that different from Neymar making similar foolish requests to PSG to sign Coutinho, Arthur and Lima?
