🗣 ? Javier Bordas: "Neymar did NOT leave Barcelona to escape Messi's shadow."

🗣 ? Javier Bordas: "I know why Neymar left, But it's better if he tells you, not me."

🗣 ? Javier Bordas: "It is true that some players agreed to a lower salary in order to bring back Neymar. Even Ney agreed to give up a lot of privileges he had at PSG including his salary to return to Barcelona."

🗣 ? Javier Bordas: "We were very serious about signing Neymar. We were so close that he thought he was coming and so did I. Ney said that his home was Bar?a and that he wanted to return. Players refusing to leave was why the deal broke down the difference was about 5m"

🗣 ? Javier Bordas: "It was a mistake to sack Valverde while being leaders in the league, as it was also a mistake to bring in Seti?n."

Doesn't it feel like Barcelona (at least the board) had a small club mentality over the past 5~ years? Paying insane loyalty bonuses to not just Messi, but players like Neymar as well. Giving insane wages to all our stars is also a thing. I swear in 2017 when Neymar left, he had 4 years at the club and if he hadn't left he would have received a 26m loyalty bonus. What other top club does that? It feels like we overpay these great players as a means of saying "thank you for staying with us", whereas other top clubs like real madrid or bayern would tell them to fuck off for having insane wage demands even if said player has been around for almost a decade.

Only RM. And even that is a 50/50 as they've been reluctant to bin some of the old core in Marcelo, Benz, Modric etc and continue to give them ludicrous 2022-2023 contracts.

Bayern kept Robbery as geriatrics for 2-3 years longer than they should have.
