Should have played better , of course , but he got 2 goals , one a penaldo and a brilliant other one which was rulled correctly for offside.

And yeah , golden boot winner and best fifa world player only produces against shit teams.

Never said he only produces against dross. Point is he is getting progressively worse outside his comfort zone.

Is that an incorrect assessment?

he doesn't have it in him to keep carrying this shell of a team anymore.. midweek he was brilliant but age waits for no man. the amount of money the board spends he shouldn't have to carry a damn team on his back anymore yet here we are approaching 2020, 400mil+ and still exactly the same situation.

Team should have been better, but Leo could have been much better himself as well.

His ideal environment to produce magic is a late kick-off, at home against some rubbish relegation fodder.

Remove him from his comfort zone and he struggles only get worse. Far from an alien anymore.

Imagine saying that. He was by far our best player today. He created a few chances and was unlucky to not have 2nd goal. You can't expect him to dribble by a parked bus. He still creates a lot, passes it well and dribbles the ball quite well. This loss isn't on him. He just has far too many average to shit players around him.

You're dead wrong.... and you know it. You're only saying this because we lost. In 99% of our matches, he produces chances, passes it well and scores goals.

Look at how shit Perez, Suarez and Griezmann was today. You can't expect Messi to do everything. If those guys up their game, I guarantee you Messi would have way more assists and goals.

so what is a 33 year old Messi , current winner of a golden boot and fifa best player supossed to do ? Keep in mind we're playing under Valverde and with a deffence who wants to make it a norm giving away free goals every game?

You expect him to be on goat mode every game and bail us every time ? LOL

BTW didn't you say in chat that you are hoping he will retire in 2 years ? LMAO.

Some posters, to deflect blame from Valverde, will stoop so low to even criticize Messi before that clown. They are nowhere to be seen in Valverde's thread but first thing after the final whistle they are here to blame Messi. Pathetic, absolutely pathetic.

Leo is more a home player these days. Struggles to make a difference when the team are completely outrun and outbattled away from home every single time near enough.

He needs facilitating at his age, like Ronaldo is. He can't carry a team on his back.

Wasn't even shut down today, had a reasonably good game. We still lost horrendously. Obviously not even Messi can save us from EV's incompetence in La Liga.

What do you mean? He created a good chance for Griezmann and Fati. He could have had 2 goals.... and I'm pretty sure he was our best passer today. He still carries to the team. It isn't a coincidence since he's been back that we've been winning games more consistently.

People overlook Messi's performance because he's not getting hattricks. If his other teammates stepped up, we would be winning way more matches.

I haven't seen the game to be honest (poor stream) but just talking generally with the away performances of Barca, he can't be expected to do it all on his own anymore.

It's criminal what Valverde has done to his last top years.

He hates to play with both Griezmann as well as Démbéle obviously. One is a fraud, the other plays in his position. Behind him 2 kids about 6 years away from their primes. Wouldn't be surprised if he called it a day next year.

Messi had 2 goals taken away - the first because of a foul (?), the second because Griezmann was too lazy to come back from his offside position.

If we have a disaster in CL this year again, I think he should think about retiring soon. His legacy will get hurt if people will remember him in these losing positions so damn often, especially as captain.

I cannot for the life of me understand why he publicly backed Valverde though. I mean I seriously don't understand what was he thinking.

Imagine calling Griezzman lazy    This picnic squad is probably disturbed by his workrate, makes them all look bad
